Just a few years ago, management could comfortably wait out a two-week sprint to get a feature shipped.
Today, thereโs growing impatience when a feature takes more than 24 hours to deliver. ๐ฅฒ
The pressure on software engineers right now is crazy, and I donโt think weโre talking about it enough.
I can barely get two sentences into explaining my implementation plan before someone interrupts with:
โJust give it to Claude to do!โ
โSir, we need to think aboutโฆโ
โThatโs what Claude is there for. Let it do the heavy lifting!โ
A task gets assigned, and barely 10 minutes later:
โWhy is it taking so long? Arenโt you using Claude properly? This should take a minute or two!โ
Somehow, the existence of AI has created this assumption that software engineering is now just a matter of writing a prompt and watching features magically appear.
Nobody wants to hear about architecture, edge cases, testing, security, or the implications of a poorly thought-out implementation.
Just ship it. And ship it NOW.
AI has become both a blessing and a curse.
Something I genuinely expected to reduce my workload has instead increased it. The productivity gains are real, but so are the expectations that come with them.
Weโve made development faster, but somehow, weโve also made every delivery feel slower.
And thatโs the irony nobody seems to be talking about.
Omo mehn, Iโm just exhausted, might as well just resign, but it seems itโs the same everywhere๐ช

I decided to review a PR myself with my eye and omo.... AI writes code like a junior engineer who has been told all the possible loopholes that could go wrong in there code.
So dirty patches, upon dirty patches

Iโm not sure we fully understand how significant this is
$500k raised in less than a week of launch, 4m+ users, $170+ revโฆ. Itโs absolutely insane
Iโve always believed that with the tech available today, profound products would emerge from Africaโฆthe talent was never the problem, the minds, creativity, technical skills were always here
what held many people back was the cost of getting startedโฆ. Time was the most expensive thing, then you needed a team, some funds just to get a product to market
AI has changed that narrativeโฆ the cost of building and launching products is falling and more people can now turn ideas into reality without needing the resources that used to be ablocker
Lagoslife is a glimpse of whatโs possible and I know so much more will come out of Africa. Shalom has broken a mental barrier for many of us, showing us whatโs possible when African builders have the tools to bring their ideas to life
Now is the best time to build. Start now!

Iโve been awake since, I have written several versions of this and this is the most polite I could do!
Dear @cryptobaddiee1, since you muted that tweet, I'll just drop this here.
Lagos Life right now: 103,600 players online, 2.25M total, and 1.65M visits today. That must be terrifying for someone whose entire business model is a Telegram bot.
You asked, "What do I know?" Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Your server bill somehow appreciated by $90k between two tweets.
If your coins pumped like your estimates, you wouldn't need to rug anybody.
Here's a free lesson, no gas fees needed: 2.25M users doesn't mean 2.25M concurrent users. Even at peak, fewer than 5% are online at once.
One efficient server on Hetzner can handle roughly 100k concurrent connections for under $50 a month. Put Redis in front of the database, cache everything hot, add backpressure so the DB never chokes, scale vertically, and add replicas only when the graphs actually ask for them, you might not understand all this, and thatโs fine this is not a derogatory statement, trust me. Even if you need two boxes, you're still under $100 a month.
How dumb of us to run efficient systems when we could have been panic-pricing our ignorance instead.
As for your "Who's watching the adverts?" Enough people that Chowdeck, Salary Index, and ONErpm are paying to be seen. One campaign hit a 38% tap-through rate, when normal banner ads pray for just 1%.
Advertisers are actively queueing up for slots. But please, by all means, continue your audit.
And let's stop pretending you ever cared about servers. What's really breaking your heart is that there's no token ticker to attach to Afrika Shrine or Quilox. No presale, no exit liquidity, and no bagholders to exploit. You came looking for a playground to rug and accidentally stumbled onto an app people actually use.
You muted the thread because you claim you "can't argue with money-dumb people." Miss, you argued cloud costs using two completely different numbers in the same thread. The money-dumb person was right there in those tweets.
Staying muted and avoiding these conversations would have been the smartest thing you did this week, but I guess you aren't that smart, and that's fine too. Prove me right by blocking me after you see this.
