And most times, these fights start when some Igbo men become so comfortable disrespecting Igbo women that they carry that same disrespect to women from other ethnic groups? Those men will defend their women against outsiders. They won’t sit back and entertain your misogyny simply because you’ve become accustomed to practising it against your own women. You cannot normalise disrespecting women at home and expect other communities to accommodate that behaviour. Sometimes, what you interpret as ethnic hostility is simply other people refusing to tolerate the disrespect you’ve grown comfortable dishing out.
