You know what the absolute worst part of all this drama is (for everyone outside Cerys and Makani)? @playpokemon won’t officially communicate what happened. So this becomes an opportunity for more conflict and negativity towards players in the community. That should change.

WOTC used to directly and publicly clarify when and why a player was disqualified from a MTG event. I am unsure if they still do as I haven't played since 2020, but from 2012 until then I found this type of communication paramount to steering public discourse appropriately.

The only way to change this is for everyone to call a judge every single time your opponent takes an extended search at the beginning of a game Ask them to show you in the rules where it says they can do that Spoiler: It is not in the rules
