Been working on the visual side of Project Smol and wanted to share this piece of Smidge overlooking the Drowned Kingdom. 🐉
Smidge is the main character in an ongoing fantasy story I’m building around the project.
He hatched beneath the ruins of the Drowned Kingdom after an ancient energy called the Blue Flame returned. He has no idea who hid his egg, what destroyed the kingdom, or why the ruins seem to recognize him.
That mystery is basically the backbone of the story.
I’m trying to build this more like a real character universe over time — chapters, lore, new characters, art, videos, and eventually something we can turn into an illustrated book.
Still early, but I’m enjoying watching the world grow around him.

PROJECT SMOL — CHAPTER II: THE FIRST CALL 🐉⚡
Smidge had hatched into a world he had never seen.
No voices welcomed him.
No dragons waited outside the Moonwell.
Only ruins.
Water.
And silence.
But the kingdom had noticed him.

The moment Smidge stepped onto the ancient stone, a symbol beneath his foot began to glow.
Then another.
And another.
A trail of electric-blue runes stretched away from the Moonwell and disappeared into the darkness.
Smidge hesitated.
Then followed.
The path led him through parts of the Drowned Kingdom untouched for centuries.
Collapsed halls.
Flooded courtyards.
Broken statues of dragons he had never known.
Torn banners hanging from walls that still carried the scars of whatever happened here.
Everywhere Smidge went, the runes awakened ahead of him.
Almost as if the kingdom remembered the path.
Or remembered him.
Eventually, the trail led Smidge to a forgotten chamber.
At its center stood an ancient altar.
Above it floated a small flame of brilliant blue energy.
The Blue Flame.
As Smidge approached, the markings across his body began to glow.
The flame reacted.
And for one brief moment…
Smidge saw another world.
The Drowned Kingdom before its fall.
Towers untouched by water.
Dragons filling the sky.
The kingdom alive.
Then the vision changed.
Smoke.
Falling stone.
Dragons fighting above the towers.
Something enormous moving beneath the water.
And a shadowed figure carrying a dragon egg toward the Moonwell.
His egg.
Before Smidge could understand what he was seeing, the vision disappeared.
The chamber became silent again.
But somewhere deeper in the ruins…
another symbol awakened.
A symbol Smidge had never seen.
Then came a sound.
Distant.
Heavy.
Stone moving against stone.
Smidge turned toward the darkness.
For the first time since hatching, he understood something.
The Blue Flame had not only awakened him.
Something else had heard the call.
Smidge stepped forward.
His first journey had begun.
