Cardano will lose decentralisation if we keep spending without real discipline.
SPOs are leaving because for many it is becoming non sustainable. My own stake pool is currently operating at a negative, and many others are in the same position or have already left.
This is the part people need to realise.
Decentralisation is not free. Security is not free. Infrastructure is not free.
Every stake pool has real costs. Servers, monitoring, upgrades, time, risk and responsibility. When ADA falls in price, those costs do not disappear. It simply becomes harder for independent operators to justify staying online.
The more ADA sinks in price, the more pressure lands on SPOs. The more SPOs leave, the more we reduce the resilience, security and decentralisation of Cardano.
We can talk about growth, adoption and long term vision, but none of it matters if the base layer becomes weaker because the people securing it cannot afford to keep doing it.
I do not want to be posting this, but if anybody wants a realistic view without marketing words, this is it.
It is time for change.
And it's extremely frustrating listening to this from an on the ground perspective.

Loving the new found excitement and energy now the 3Founding entities (Plus Intersect and Midnight foundation) announced a critical integrations proposal.
Having read the proposal, there seems to be a couple things that have been announced recently that might “Overlap” and I just wanted to check that this latest Proposal will not impact, in anyway, the ability of the 3FE’s to deliver both on time and in good state, their current outstanding proposals and promises to the community and the treasury.

There’s a more formal incident report you can read. But these notes from the frontline outline and express the challenging events of the past 48 hours beautifully. During the roughest times, what a pleasure it is to have such committed, professional and decent people alongside you in the trenches like Carlos and so many others. The network may have taken a bruising but it never stopped and the whole community stepped up. We and Cardano are all the stronger for it.

It's important to ask the right questions: how did the bug that was exploited today get there between January 7th and today? Why didn't conformance testing find it (at all/sooner)? How do we better protect ourselves against this in a multinodular future?
This "exploit" could really cause very little harm except for causing forks between versions that accepted it and those that didn't (and some relatively minor downstream tooling issues that could be overcome eventually), no funds were ever at risk although mitigating the impact of the exploit on mainnet obviously caused substantial monetary impact.
What are our next steps, as an ecosystem, to try and test better/harder (against all node software and versions) to try and minimize the potential for this to ever happen again?
