The Artichoke Hearts visited the Coach and Horses for league bar billiards. Ben scored 1290, I located the buffet and we remain second from bottom. Contributions varied.

Bigos, potatoes and kompot for about £4 at Bar Mleczny Rusałka in Warsaw. I ordered in Polish, received a reply in English and reluctantly accepted that Roy had chosen well.

Beer and chicken tacos at PINTA Nowogrodzka, formerly Drugie Dno. Friendly service, reasonable prices and a spiral staircase that encourages a respectful bow on the way to the toilets.

A new Prezzo for Norwich’s Riverside, taking over the former Pizza Hut. Good to see the unit returning to use, although my ambitions for the area still involve unlimited Chinese food.

COYPU provided some rather decadent discoveries at Warsaw Beer Festival. Two beers scored 4.5, and I found myself defending “lumpy” as a tasting note.

An arthritic knee, 2,800 miles and the French Alps. John Pucknell joins me for LDWA podcast seven. I would have suggested somewhere flatter.

My first encounter with Hopkultura at Warsaw Beer Festival included fruity sours, hoppy IPAs and the rather decadent Bombtrack stout. Roy’s recommendation survived scrutiny. He’ll be relieved.

Three days of changing selections at Funky Fluid’s Warsaw Beer Festival stand. Highlights included a 15% anniversary stout and Goose Island’s Bourbon County Brand Mon Cheri Stout. Research remained thorough.

A visit to Eter Vegan in Warsaw brought tempting pastries, friendly service and furniture which challenged my preferred relationship between chairs and tables. The almond bun was rather lovely.

Around 850 days on foot across Europe. Bart Jezierski discusses Peace Walking, difficult journeys, unexpected generosity and the humanitarian aims behind his expeditions.

A little diversion into Norwich in 1799, with Bishop Bridge minus its gatehouse. I’ll ask Richard about the scene, although he tends to be vague about anything before the railways.

Radom after dark, from the medieval streets around Rwańska to a former Russian Orthodox church remodelled for the Polish military.

Sovereign House is nearly demolished. A chance to bring back Botolph Street’s original alignment, and remember the King’s Arms, demolished in 1967 for the bloody awful Anglia Square.

Norwich Beer Festival returned to the Halls. I volunteered every public session, largely to avoid missing gossip. My unofficial remuneration included sausage rolls and three pizzas.

A visit to the former synagogue site in Radom, Poland. The memorial marks the destruction of a Jewish community that once accounted for nearly a third of the city's population.

From Lublin to Radom by train. Historic stations, modern carriages, civilised passengers and a hotel conveniently close to the station. Even Richard could manage the walk.

A look inside Lublin's Capuchin Church of St Peter and St Paul. Less religious bling than some of its neighbours, plenty of character and one particularly unusual feature on the pulpit.

Marriage brought them together. A gap in the cemetery wall kept the burial arrangements administratively convenient. Shared memorials between Lublin’s Catholic and Protestant burial grounds.

Hot honey, chorizo, ricotta and scissors at Pelier in Lublin. A filling pizzetta, a Polish dark lager and further damage to my claim that I prefer the simpler things in life.

Lublin after dark, from St Joseph’s Church to the Kraków Gate and Trinitarian Tower. A few photographs from a little meander, occasionally interrupted by remembering where my accommodation was.
