US defense experts say ISAC could supplement radar for wide-area drone detection, but technical hurdles, uncertain commercial returns and slow standards processes mean working systems may need to precede 3GPP specifications. hubs.ly/Q04CmC-c0

Tomorrow, Weds. Oct. 21st at 2:10pm, Prem Gopannan, VP of Product Architecture and Software Engineering, @pulsone Cohere Technologies, will be speaking at #OCUDUDevSummit. He will be discussing How Cohere made OCUDU deployment ready for achieving spectral efficiency. Cohere’s Universal Spectrum Multiplier (#USM) product is designed as an adjunct to a gNB that performs channel analysis and codebook-free MU-MIMO scheduling based on continuous calibration of the transmission chain and measuring the geometric reciprocity of the channel itself. The USM connects to gNB via gRPC wrapping the E2SM-LLC API. We’ll start the session with an introduction to how the architectural building blocks of the USM, gRPC/API, and gNB function together to add spectral capacity. We will also be talking about how Cohere enabled MU-MIMO support in OCUDU stack. events.linuxfoundation.org/o…
"A separate contract with Cohere Technologies @pulsone, awarded by Rondeau’s office, offers another test. The goal is to use OCUDU to set up a call over the standard 5G NR waveform, then negotiate a switch to another waveform for the data plane. In Cohere’s case that is Zac-Orthogonal Time Frequency and Space (OTFS), which lets the department test sensing and communications together. It will be built around an OCUDU-based RAN stack, which Rondeau called a major proof of concept for Cohere and for OCUDU as the core software of a working RAN." @mobileworldlive #ZakOTFS #OTFS #ISAC #6G @OCUDU_EF

The first #OCUDUDevSummit starts tomorrow, October 20–22, 2026
This is where our community comes together: developers, telecom operators, and academic researchers advancing OCUDU, the carrier-grade, open-source 5G stack already powering real deployments. It’s the room where people connect, contribute to the codebase, and help shape the reality of what’s next for 5G and 6G. @OCUDU_EF

Don't miss the VIP Panel at #MILCOM26: ISAC — Shaping the Future of Wireless Connectivity and Sensing
Thursday, October 15 at 8:45am
Integrated Sensing and Communications (#ISAC) is opening new possibilities for wireless systems by bringing communications and sensing together on a common platform. This VIP panel brings together leaders from government and industry to discuss where ISAC is headed and what it will take to move from promising research to real-world deployment. The conversation will cover recent DoW and NSF initiatives, progress in commercial technologies and standards, and emerging mission-critical applications. Panelists will share their perspectives on the opportunities ahead, the challenges that remain, and how government and industry can work together to accelerate ISAC development and adoption.
Moderator: Martin Weiss, Department of War
Panelists:
Brian Daly, AT&T
S. J. Jayaweera, NSF
Amir Stephenson, Lockheed Martin
Anton Monk, Cohere Technologies
