Then one night, around 1:30 a.m. in Lonavla, Javed Akhtar cracked the film... reportedly from a newspaper story on young men being drawn into underworld, with notes scribbled on whatever lay around, even tissue paper. Rawail then staged the song not as a routine number, but almost as dance-action... rods, hockey sticks, West Side Story energy.
