‘Unfolding’: Rahul Singh’s novel presents unpretentious love in queer and working-class lives

Ralph and Ojas, the novel’s protagonists, move through heartbreak and jealousy, and navigate the same emotional complexities that shape any relationship.

Unfolding stays attentive to the uneven ways love is lived and negotiated across different lives. It's marked by an unassuming clarity that never strains for effect, allowing the emotional weight of the stories to emerge with remarkable ease. scroll.in/article/1093598/un… ✍️Diya Sengupta #bookreview

'In his debut novel, Singh not only writes about queer and working-class lives, but also turns his attention to a version of Kolkata less commonly explored in contemporary fiction.' Love this review of UNFOLDING on @scroll_in @kan_writersside scroll.in/article/1093598/un…

My sixth Eliot! One of my favourite writers. Her most political novel that she wrote over a long sickness and thought she’d never see the end of it. #book #books

Oh good lord! How embarrassing is it to do that. My novel’s Amazon rank has forever been low but I’d never stoop to this to bump it. 🫪

I am not bothered by the ethics of the ask, many publishing houses push writers to do this. I'm amused at the chain of thought behind sending this in a community with 1K+ people. Best case someone helps. Worst case people get rage baited and the screenshot goes viral.

Red Road in Kolkata (where the Eid namaz was forbidden in the name of no blockage to public infrastructure for religious or cultural purposes) has been shut for days now in preparation for #WorldYogaDay by the present government. This should be noted. #bengal #yoga

Going to blow my own trumpet a little: read my book. It is published in 2026. It has no AI usage whatsoever. Every word is mine and mine only. Thank you very much. #books #publishing #debutnovel #Unfolding PS: I am surprised and disappointed in Olga T. among many other things :/
