Imagine 4 new anticancer drugs Pallituzumab, Geriatriximab, Symptomab, & Exercizumab hit the market. They should dominate the plenary sessions at ASCO & command billion-dollar revenue. But they don't because they're nonpharmacologic & shame on us.

“Chemo brain” is one of the most common things my patients ask me about. We still have no proven drug to treat it.
In our small phase II trial, breast cancer survivors with cognitive complaints took oxaloacetate for 8 weeks. Every participant who completed the study reported improvement in cognition, along with less fatigue and better physical function.
It’s an early signal, not an answer. A randomized, placebo-controlled trial is the next step.
Led by Dr. Patti Ganz, with thanks to @BCRFcure. Out now in @JCOOA_ASCO.

Super insightful piece. With Daniel Sentana and @CaPsurvivorship, we’ve had similar debates re the meaning of healthcare contact days in advanced prostate cancer.

@minasedrakmd highlights the importance of translating evidence into personalized, patient-centered care for older adults with cancer.
How do we bridge the gap between recommendations and real-world practice?

Amazing. The abstract is about turning a grant into sustainable clinical care. But the real story is @ramsedhom: from a trainee interested in #GeriOnc to a leader bringing personalized cancer care to community practices.
Just today, Ramy held Penn's first #GeriOnc symposium for patients, with more than 400 attendees and leaders like @DrRFreedman.
It's been a joy to watch Ramy’s career evolve at lightning speed. I can't wait to see what he and @efratdotan (who led one of the largest therapeutic older adult trials in oncology, the GIANT study) will do together at Penn. These two are a real powerhouse!!!
Proud of you, Ramy! #ASCOQLTY26 @GuerraViswanath @PC3Innovation @PennCancer @lynn_schuchter @PennMedicine

Perhaps lessons for lung cancer? Pathologic complete response or near pCR after neoadjuvant IO in melanoma portends almost certain cure, where have we seen that before? Looking at you CheckMate 816 in lung cancer (100% cancer specific survival at 5 years if pCR) 👀 #lcsm
Big melanoma data in @NatureMedicine 👇
A pooled analysis of 1,038 patients with resectable melanoma treated before surgery. Among the 735 who received immunotherapy, 58% had little or no viable tumor left at surgery.
Those patients? ~98% alive at 5 years.
And their 5-year recurrence-free survival was similar with or without additional immunotherapy after surgery (90.8% vs 90.6%).
So if treatment already worked this well, do patients need more?
Not randomized, so prospective trials are needed. But very encouraging.
