how on earth does Google expect this to go over with schools and parents? People will definitely say "OK fine, then we don't need search" rather than give in
google says if you dont want AI in the classroom you wont get search either earnest Q: highlighted quote seems carefully crafted to suggest there is a technical reason google could not turn off AI in search. is there *any* truth to that? nytimes.com/2026/11/03/us/go…

When Tesla announced an expansion of its robotaxis to Dallas and Houston last month, some investors touted momentum for CEO Elon Musk’s mission to transform the electric-vehicle maker into an AI-powered, driverless-tech giant. Reuters reporter Norihiko Shirouzu recently tested Tesla’s robotaxis in Dallas, however, and found them to still be in a beta-testing phase.

Finally, the AI feature we all wanted and needed: Amazon now creates an AI “podcast” about products where two AI “hosts” discuss the product and take your questions as if it’s a call-in show.

Enjoyed contributing to this piece by @ranimolla on @sherwood_news, diving into the unique pricing window we’re seeing with robotaxis right now 🚗🤖 It does feel a lot like the “millennial lifestyle subsidy” era—when services like Uber and Lyft were super cheap thanks to VC funding—and we might be seeing a similar playbook unfold again 👀 A few highlights: 💸 Robotaxi rides are still relatively cheap compared to traditional rideshare, especially when you factor in the premium experience—and the fact that you don’t have to tip a robot 📉 Even though AV costs are expected to keep dropping, prices today already feel lower than they should be ⚙️ Data shows the cost to operate these vehicles per mile is already competitive (or cheaper): Waymo at $1.36/mile, Tesla Robotaxi at $0.74/mile, vs ~$1.71/mile for traditional rideshare ⏳ We’ve also started to see prices creep up over the past couple months… but even with that, rides are still pretty affordable… for now

It’s hard to overstate how skeptical I am of this. Literally zero sightings of the unsupervised vehicles since last Thursday. Not a single person online has claimed to have taken a ride since then.
NEWS: Elon Musk has announced that the Model Y Robotaxis running FSD Unsupervised have no follow car as of yesterday.

Tesla is now doing some unsupervised rides in Austin! As I predicted, it appears to be within a much tighter ODD (my guess, although not confirmed, is it is limited to South Austin) and only a subset of the fleet. Likely 2-3 cars right now.
Robotaxi rides without any safety monitors are now publicly available in Austin. Starting with a few unsupervised vehicles mixed in with the broader robotaxi fleet with safety monitors, and the ratio will increase over time.

This is the most beautiful way anyone has ever described heckling. An inspiration to haters of all kinds.
The UAW worker at the Ford factory whom Trump cursed out after the worker called him a “pedophile protector” has been suspended from his job pending an investigation, according to the Washington Post. He says he has “definitely no regrets whatsoever,” adding: “I don’t feel as though fate looks upon you often, and when it does, you better be ready to seize the opportunity. And today I think I did that.” wapo.st/4sG38CD

New: WaPo staff are privately noting the new AI personalized pods have errors like misattributing/inventing quotes, inserting commentary. WaPo's standards editor called the mistakes "frustrating," another editor said "if we were serious we would pull this tool immediately."
Replying to @maxwelltani
The Washington Post is also launching a personalized AI podcast, saying users will be able to "shape their own briefing, select their topics, set their lengths, pick their hosts and soon even ask questions using our Ask The Post AI technology."

Yes. Despite grave warnings about Trump's concern about this bid vs that bid, he is delighted to be kingmaker. Even better: These are companies many people have heard of and care about.
Trump loves pitting rivals against each other, from the “Apprentice” boardroom to the West Wing. Now he's playing host to a real-life Hollywood game show: Netflix vs. Paramount, with the future of HBO, CNN, and the movie studio business at stake. nytimes.com/2025/12/08/busin…

🤖📑 It was great contributing to this insightful piece by @ranimolla on @sherwood_news, digging into where Tesla and Waymo really stand in the autonomy race 🚗🤖. A couple of highlights: ⚡ It’s not exactly a head-to-head competition yet — Waymo is running paid driverless trips, while Tesla still isn’t truly autonomous since it relies on safety monitors in TX and safety drivers in CA. 🤔 The big question with Tesla’s bottom-up approach is whether (or when) the tech will fully work. If it does, things could get really interesting for Waymo because Tesla already has so many cars on the road. And they can produce 5k cars a day! (vs Waymo’s entire fleet of just 2,500)
