Today's Rare Pepe Lore Lesson™ is a very special one. 10 years ago today, Series 1, Card 1 - RAREPEPE was minted by the one and only Mike (@myrarepepe). This is a 1/300 card with a circulating supply of 298 after two were destroyed (both by @i3inary). The current floor price of the card is 4.5 BTC ($360,389 USD). 208 wallets hold a copy of the card and the largest one has 6% of the circulating supply (18/298). The last time that wallet was active was 7 years ago. The minting of RAREPEPE kicked off what would become one of the most important community-driven art projects in blockchain history. Over the next two years, hundreds of artists from around the world would contribute 1,774 cards to the Rare Pepe Directory, helping lay the foundation for what we now call CryptoArt. As Rare Pepe Scientist (retired) @theog__ puts it, "Rarepepe is the amen break of art." The source image was that of Dorian Nakamoto who was falsely identified as the real Satoshi Nakamoto in a high-profile article in the US magazine "Newsweek" on March 6, 2014.
