Follow up questions for android users, are there any apps you use that actually use material design?
Studying the big ones and it seems like most use their own design systems (make sense tbh)
Will buy an android this week to check for myself but would love to hear from people who daily drive it!
Android users, does this look like a native app? ๐
Working on something but i have little knowledge of android design language
Absolutely insane the amount of iteration Iโve done on these calls
I literally have Claude code pulled up and have a new build ready to test by the next call
Doing 8 calls per day btw ๐
Anyone want to hop on a call this week and be hand onboarded to Moonjar? ๐
Looking for 10-20 people (form below)!

Thought it would be fun to do a Q&A and answer your most asked questions to celebrate:
"do your apps make enough to go full time (and how much)?"
"what is your biggest app mistake"
"any advice for marketing?"
Enjoy :)
3 weeks later i think ellie has a mascot ๐ฎโ๐จ
can't wait to share the story of how this was made
100% code btw (thank you claude code ๐)
its been almost 2 WEEKS and i still haven't found the right mascot for ellie ๐ฎโ๐จ
i just can't seem to find the right balance of playful AND professional
it was so much easier for my other apps because it was a blank slate
but i have to be more intentional since ellie has actually people using it every single day (some for over 3 years straight!)
i feel like im getting close but this is a tough one, maybe a video soon though ๐
Calling it now, every long running agent will adopt something like this in the next few months ๐
Just built something very powerful on top of it to help me manage my dot (after linear/slack/notion didnโt work out for me)
Will polish and share!
MCP Events lets you build automations that trigger work in ChatGPT when something happens in your app.
Think of workflows like:
- When a bug report lands, investigate it and prepare a draft PR with tests
- When someone comments on this proposal, work through the edits and show me what changed
- When a new podcast episode drops, pull out the ideas relevant to my project
Essentially you're giving ChatGPT instructions upfront. A matching event can start the work, without you having to notice the update, copy it into a chat, and prompt again.
Give this a try with a plugin that supports events!
ellie x @screenshotfirst ๐ฎโ๐จ
been a fan of their work for years, an honor to work with them on the ellie refresh ๐ค
Pulled the plug last minute ๐ฅฒ
Did some reflection and I need to spend more time on the brand before committing
Will definitely share more insights soon
BUT still rolling out 50+ updates/improvements across Ellie today! ๐ฅณ
i will say im incredibly nervous about this brand refresh im doing
there are some users who have used ellie for 3+ years (incredible problem to have ๐ฅน) but change is always hard
will try to do this delicately AND probably do a writeup so they can read more about the changes and my thought process

lets see which company reaches out first with a take down notice ๐
new ellie branding + unlockable app icons
didn't forget about this btw ๐
spent the 30 days doing an INSANE overhaul (on top of creating moonjar 2 weeks ago ๐ฅฒ)
About to ship this weekend:
- new brand + landing page
- new app store screenshots (thank you @screenshotfirst ๐)
- 30+ iOS features (and lots of bug fixes)
- 50+ desktop refinements / redesigns
and more importantly, i have the systems in place to keep this up to date now thanks to moonjar so expect regular updates on the changelog and @ellieplanner
I have a roadmap for Ellie over the next year and I'm ready to execute ๐ค
hot take:
5 live onboarding calls > 100 people using your app and sending in feedback ๐
there is something about watching a user struggle through your onboarding, be frustrated and watching them give up that you can't get from a "i stopped using it because i didn't like the screenshots it made"
also shoutout @Eimen_Nur for hopping on with me and churning live on the call so i can improve ๐ญ
im 100% doing this for all my apps once im done with moonjar
