Conveyed my condolences to my friend Moses Ouma and his family at their home in Mukuyu Village, South Kanyamkago, following the passing of his beloved wife, Annette Ouma.
As the family prepares to lay Annette to rest on Friday, I wish them strength, comfort and courage during this difficult time.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
The Fourth Estate plays a vital role in keeping the public informed through credible, accurate and verifiable information, particularly in an era when AI-generated content makes it increasingly difficult to distinguish facts from misinformation.
The media also has a responsibility to contribute to community development by amplifying local voices, highlighting pressing challenges and fostering informed public participation in identifying solutions and driving meaningful change.
Held an engagement with the leadership of Jofwambo Welfare Group.
For too long, the notion that trade and commercial success belong to particular regions has persisted, partly because access to enabling infrastructure has been uneven.
The National Government is changing this narrative by expanding investment in local markets and creating opportunities for entrepreneurship across the country.
The ongoing construction of the Kiabuya Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) Market in Gwassi South Ward, Suba South Constituency, Homa Bay County, is part of this effort to make commerce a shared national opportunity and source of pride.
Designed to provide small-scale traders with a dignified, all-weather trading environment, the market will feature structured stalls, reliable water supply, modern sanitation facilities and designated waste collection areas.
It is expected to serve more than 300 rural traders, improve the handling of agricultural and fish products, and strengthen local supply chains. Construction is also creating employment for young people, artisans and casual workers from the surrounding communities.
The long-term success of these investments depends on protecting the infrastructure and ensuring traders can operate without fear of disruption. Through its grassroots administrative structures, the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration works with communities to promote the security of public facilities, prevent vandalism and support orderly use of trading spaces.
Government investments in road and market infrastructure, alongside community empowerment programmes, are improving connectivity, expanding economic opportunities and positioning Ndhiwa to harness its considerable agricultural potential for growth.
With other leaders, we met the Business Community, Cane and Livestock Farmers from Ndhiwa Constituency, Homa Bay County.
Close collaboration with regional leaders remains key to assessing development progress, addressing constituents' concerns, strengthening security and promoting peaceful coexistence among residents.
Joined Bahati MP, Hon. Irene Njoki, for a public engagement with residents of her constituency, where we highlighted key development projects undertaken by the administration of H.E. President William Ruto, listened to residents' views and discussed matters of public interest.
We will continue to strengthen engagement with National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs) and their grassroots networks to enhance security coordination and support the effective implementation of government programmes, including ongoing national examinations and the issuance of national identity cards and birth certificates.
Led by the Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Dr. Abdi Hassan, I chaired a consultative meeting with National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs) in Bahati Sub-County, Nakuru County, bringing together the County Commissioner, Assistant County Commissioners, Chiefs, their Assistants and Village Elders.
Equitable development under the 'Usawa ni Sawa' mantra means ensuring that rural communities are not isolated from essential services and economic opportunities.
The upgrading of the 67-kilometre Kadel–Alara–Pala–Kanyadhiang Centre–Kilusi–Opanga–Ramba road network to bitumen standards in Karachuonyo Constituency, Homa Bay County, advances this goal by opening up the larger Rachuonyo West Region to greater connectivity and growth.
Implemented by the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), construction is ongoing from Nyangwete towards the main Kisumu Road, progressively improving connectivity across the area.
The project will improve access to markets, schools, health facilities and trading centres. Residents will benefit from shorter journeys, safer travel and lower transport costs, while farmers and traders gain reliable routes to move produce and goods, stimulate local commerce and improve household incomes.
The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration complements the investment by coordinating local administration, security agencies and community engagement to safeguard infrastructure, promote public safety and ensure residents benefit from improved connectivity in a secure environment.
It is with profound sorrow that I have learnt of the passing of my friend, Joshua Orero.
Joshua was a valued friend whose contribution to public service and our shared professional journey I deeply appreciated.
I extend my heartfelt condolences to his brother, Kibra Member of Parliament Hon. Mwalimu Peter Orero, the entire Orero family and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.
May God grant the family strength and comfort during this difficult time, and may Joshua's soul rest in eternal peace.
To all the 2026 KPSEA, KJSEA and KCSE candidates, as you embark on your national examinations, we wish you clarity of mind, confidence and success.
This is an important milestone in your educational journey, and we encourage you to remain focused and give your best.
The Ministry of Interior is working closely with that of Education and other stakeholders to ensure effective coordination, security and the smooth administration of this national exercise.
We remain committed to providing a conducive environment for every candidate to undertake the examinations without disruption.
Best wishes to all the candidates.
The upgrading of the Stella–Sibuoche–Gogo Falls Road to bitumen standard in Uriri Constituency, Migori County, is the first-ever tarmac road within the constituency, coming 63 years after independence under the current regime.
The project is part of the National Government's infrastructure programme covering more than 1,490 kilometres of roads under construction, planned or being upgraded across the larger Nyanza Region.
The 53-kilometre project aims to unlock South Nyanza's economic potential through improved connectivity.
The road links eastern and western Migori and currently serves as an important diversion route during the reconstruction of the Migori River Bridge along the A1 highway.
Once complete, it will shorten journeys, lower transport costs, ease the movement of agricultural produce and improve access to the popular Gogo Falls attraction.
Improved connectivity will bring government services closer to rural communities while opening new avenues for trade, tourism and investment.
The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration will continue supporting local security coordination to ensure safer transport corridors and an enabling environment for rural economic growth.
Nurturing grassroots football and athletics talent across Nyanza, the modernisation of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium in Siaya Town is positioning the facility as a catalyst for sports tourism, regional tournaments and local enterprise, particularly as Kenya prepares to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The project, launched by H.E. President @WilliamsRuto in January 2025, is progressing well through a partnership between the national and county governments.
To deliver a facility that meets international standards, the project was placed under the Ministry of Defence, with Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) engineers undertaking construction.
Phase One has delivered a FIFA-standard 110-by-68-metre football pitch, VVIP lounges, modern changing rooms and an outdoor basketball court.
Phase Two is expanding spectator capacity from 5,500 to 20,000, with five new terraces and structural works for an all-round roof canopy.
The stadium also features an eight-lane, 400-metre red-tartan athletics track, creating a platform for national, continental and international competitions.
Sports infrastructure also contributes to safer and more vibrant communities by providing young people with constructive opportunities while supporting organised public activity. In this regard, the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration continues to coordinate with relevant stakeholders to support a secure environment around the facility and its growing sporting activities.
The reconstruction of the Migori River Bridge by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is restoring a vital link along the Kisii–Migori–Isebania (A1) highway.
The original structure succumbed to the combined strain of severe historical flooding and the heavy loads of commercial cargo, disrupting transport and trade along the Kenya–Tanzania corridor.
The bridge is being built wider and stronger to accommodate growing traffic volumes and Migori's expanding urban economy.
The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration will continue supporting road safety and security coordination along this critical trade route, helping protect road users, facilitate cross-border commerce and sustain the safe movement of people and goods.
The just conclude Mashujaa Day celebrations have had a lasting impact beyond the national ceremony. For residents of Eldoret, hosting such a national event brought new economic opportunities for traders, transport operators, hospitality businesses and other local enterprises. It also placed the host city in the national spotlight, opening doors for tourism, investment and future growth.
We appreciate the residents, local leaders and all those who worked tirelessly to make the celebrations a success. Your contribution reaffirms the collective effort required to deliver an event of national significance.
Kenya's expanding cyberspace under the Digital Superhighway initiative of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) is opening new pathways for young people to acquire digital skills, access global markets and build sustainable livelihoods.
In Siaya, the Community Digital Hub is turning this ambition into opportunity by equipping young people with practical, market-driven skills and connecting them to remote work.
Founded by Siaya Senator and ODM Party Leader @DrOburu_O and officially inaugurated by H.E. President @WilliamsRuto in March 2026, the hub currently serves about 150 learners and is powered entirely by solar energy.
With 200 computers, it offers affordable training in areas including data analysis, digital marketing, basic cybersecurity, graphic design, video production, programming, web development and networking, with most programmes running for six months.
The facility also provides free public internet, a business incubator and co-working space, alongside a BPO centre that connects digital workers to local and international clients.
It is the first community digital hub in Kenya to establish a BPO centre, marking a significant step in expanding digitally enabled work beyond the major urban centres.
The hub is expanding its learning portfolio through Jaramogi Training College, a registered AI-focused college set to launch in November.
It is also working with CBOs, KUPPET Siaya Branch and other partners to widen digital literacy, while preparing to host the inaugural Nyanza Digital Summit from 2–4 December 2026 in collaboration with the Ministry and other stakeholders.
The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration continues to support coordination with stakeholders to maintain a secure environment around the facility, protect critical digital infrastructure and promote cybersecurity awareness.
Ramogi Achieng' Oneko's life carries the ache of a freedom that came at an extraordinary cost.
One of the Kapenguria Six, he was arrested by the colonial government in 1952 and spent years in detention, separated from the home and country he longed to see free. Even after independence, imprisonment found him again under the government of his former comrade, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.
He lived long enough to witness the dawn he had sacrificed so much to bring, yet freedom did not spare him every disappointment. He died in 2007, the last surviving member of the Kapenguria Six.
Today, his story leaves us with a haunting question; what becomes of the dreams of those who suffer for a nation when the years pass, the voices fall silent and the country they fought for moves on without remembering the full weight of their sacrifice?
Presided over by H.E. President @WilliamsRuto, the launch of 'The Price of Freedom', the biography of freedom fighter Achieng' Oneko, marked a fitting culmination of this year's Mashujaa Day celebrations at Eldoret State Lodge.
Presided over by H.E. President @WilliamsRuto and graced by the Ethiopian Prime Minister @AbiyAhmedAli, with other national leaders, we joined fellow Kenyans at Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret City, Uasin Gishu County, for the 63rd Mashujaa Day celebrations.
As we celebrate the 63rd Mashujaa Day under the theme Security, Sports and the Economy, we honour the heroes and heroines whose courage, sacrifice and service have shaped our nation.
The Government remains committed to safeguarding lives and property, upholding the rule of law and strengthening public cooperation to sustain the security essential for sports, economic growth and national development.
May this Mashujaa Day renew our collective commitment to patriotism, national unity and service to our country.
Happy 63rd Mashujaa Day!
Kisumu's historic Lumumba Estate is being given a new lease of life, with its familiar legacy giving way to a modern urban neighbourhood designed for a city steadily reshaping its future.
The transformation demonstrates a broader shift in Kenya's development trajectory, where ageing estates are being reimagined as modern infrastructure that advances the Kenya Beyond Vision 2030 agenda and responds to the changing aspirations of urban communities.
The Lumumba Affordable Housing Project is now in its final phases, with works focused on snagging, testing of water, electrical and drainage systems, asphalt paving, street lighting and landscaping.
Rising across 15 blocks of 17 floors each, the development will deliver 2,348 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units spanning social, affordable and market-rate categories.
The transformation comes at a time when Kisumu's growth as a city is intensifying demand for decent, sustainable housing. Replacing the ageing estate with a contemporary settlement therefore represents both a renewal of a familiar part of Kisumu's urban landscape and an investment in the city it is becoming.
The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration continues to support the project by coordinating security, safeguarding public infrastructure and sustaining a stable environment for construction and eventual occupation.
The newly upgraded Kipchoge Keino Stadium and associated infrastructure in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, are ready for this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations under the theme Security, Sports and the Economy.
Members of the public are warmly invited to join the nation tomorrow as we honour our heroes and heroines and celebrate the role of security and sports in driving economic growth and national development.
