Sir Richard Branson's statement hours ago on the current reality.
He asks, "how will America's allies ever be able to trust this administration again?"
My concern is that regardless of administration, the United States of America will never be trusted again because our agreements can be unilaterally walked away from with a change in administration every four years and also because trust in the American electorate for having made such a grievous mistake in reelecting someone who was rightfully on his way to prison, one who it was obvious he would align with dictators and turn his back on historical allies, was enthusiastically supported by enough of a voting citizenry heavily susceptible to propaganda and the pernicious polarization of tribal politics in a two party system.
The world really did find out how detached from reality and common sense much of mainstream America actually is on November 5, 2024, and the ignorance of the average American voter isn't only a danger for the nation but for the entire world.

A message to all sane Republicans: He pardoned 1,600 violent criminals. You said nothing. He bulldozed the East Wing. You said nothing. He interfered with the release of the Epstein files. You said nothing. He took over the Kennedy Center and renamed it after himself. You said nothing. He accepted a $400 million airplane as a personal gift. You said nothing. He threatened Canada, Cuba, Denmark, Greenland, Venezuela, Colombia, and Brazil. You said nothing. He tariffed just about everyone but Russia, causing inflation and instability worldwide. You said nothing. He attacked a nation during mediated negotiations. You said nothing. His ill-conceived war killed 175 children on day one. You said nothing. He alienated and insulted our allies. You said nothing. His ICE Army terrorized and murdered U.S. citizens. You said nothing. He committed murder on the high seas. You said nothing. He co-opted the Justice Department and directed it to prosecute his political enemies. You said nothing. It's time to start talking!!!
It's long overdue!!!!

ZELENSKYY FIRES BACK AT DONALD TRUMP 🇺🇦🇺🇸
“I have no words for Donald Trump. I was a fool to believe him all along. He promised to help Ukraine and claimed the war would be over if he won the election. More than a year has passed since he took office, yet he has failed to fulfil his promises. Instead, he has chosen to align himself with my enemy. And as the saying goes, the enemy of my enemy is not necessarily my friend.
Donald Trump has no power to remove me from office. I believe many people in the United States still stand with Ukraine, and I will fight until the end, until the Ukrainian people, whom I love so deeply, finally see victory.
We have lost countless lives. Children and adults have died, and countless families have been torn apart. Their sacrifices must not be in vain. We are fighting for our country’s survival, freedom, and dignity.
Ukraine will not surrender its future to the demands of the American president. I will not bow to Donald Trump or allow anyone to intimidate us into abandoning our fight.
Trump has shown himself to be a cunning and deceitful politician, and I will no longer place my trust in his promises.” 🇺🇦

What I find interesting about this video is we don't see evidence of this Alberta flag anywhere.
This is just more performative rage baiting by the separatists after a belligerent drunk gets tossed from a hockey game.

So the news today is that both the Alberta separatists and the Quebec separatists have been holding (or seeking) meetings with the Trump administration — colluding with a foreign power in the service of its ambition to break up the country and absorb it piece by piece. For how long are we going to continue to treat this as a legitimate political “option”?

Perhaps I am off on this but I genuinely believe that Canada is going to come out of this imbroglio with the USA better than the Americans. I think we hold a much better hand if we are resolved, patient and smart we will be better not worse off.

“One of Carney’s prescriptions – forging deep relations with like-minded “middle powers” and restructuring to lessen reliance on former allies – has already taken shape in Canada, at a speed and degree to which the pollster David Coletto described as a “wartime-footing government without a war”.
“It’s a government organised around an external threat that’s willing to suspend its own party’s orthodoxies, centralise power to move fast, and measure itself in outcomes rather than values,” he wrote.”

Here's a twist on Canadian legend @Alanis's "Ironic" (who was fab when one of us saw her live last month) - in an acoustic version that addresses Trump's #tradewar with Canada and his attempted renaming of Lake Ontario.
