I've always loved everyday carrys (EDCs) and recently I've been really looking for stuff that I think are useful and essential for me and what I do. I live in NYC, so my EDC is not exactly for survival lol
I pretty much only ever buy stuff when they're on sale. If my research shows they have not dropped in price in 6 months to a year and I still really want the item, then I'll pay MSRP, but I generally try to avoid paying full price
Pretty much everything except the AirPods 5, Leatherman Micra, and DJI Mic Mini is $20. Prices below are as of today. Again, I mostly paid less than MSRP so wait if you want to
Here are my recent pickups from this year:
Hagibis USB4 Keychain cable - $19: amzn.to/4dyIZZz (aff link)
- This is on my keychain and is great for charging up my phone or the other devices or when I need to move big video files from my iPhone to laptop. Always on me, fast 80Gbps data transfer, 240W fast charging. Fun fact: You can charge AirPods via USB-C from your iPhone! (Handy when you really need the music but your AirPods are dead or you don't have a power bank on you.)
Olight iMini 2 flashlight - $20: amzn.to/4erMCRc (aff link)
- 50 lumen flashlight with 21 meter throw. Turns on as soon as you magnetically detach it from the keychain/USB-A part. So much brighter than my iPhone's flash. I use it when I'm walking down a dark street or trying to avoid stepping in dog shit (very useful). There's a USB-C version, but I rarely have to charge this one (haven't charged it since I bought it in June), and it was cheaper so w/e. Also feels good to know if I ever need to blind someone who might be following me (or someone else) or something, it'll buy some time to escape. Mace is illegal in NYC. Always better safe than sorry.
Leatherman Micra - $50: amzn.to/3TVP7nM (aff link)
- I have a small Swiss Army knife on my keys, but I wanted something just a little bit larger with better scissors, knife, and other tools. I know the quality is not the same as the OG LM Micras from back in the day, but it works. This one I paid full $50 because the price never seems to drop. Also comes in fun colors (I see there are seasonal colors now ha). It's also my first ever Leatherman so I'm officially an unc now, I guess lol
Ulanzi MA60 Magnetic Phone Tripod Stand - $19: amzn.to/4dyKUxf (aff link)
- Love this little metal MagSafe tripod. It unfolds into a stand and works well as a stable hand tripod for vlogging or getting pan/dolly shots. I make all my short videos you see on here, TikTok, and YouTube with this thing. Folds right up and stays on the back of my iPhone. It's basically replaced the Moft Snap Phone Tripod Stand AERA that I used to use (I still keep it in my bag in case). Also works great as stand on an airplane tray table for watching videos
DJI Mic Mini (2 TX + 1 RX) - $59: amzn.to/3W29Yqe (aff link)
- Two wireless mics and a receiver that plug into my iPhone for vastly better audio for all my social videos. Very handy for ASMR tech unboxings. I put one mic to the side out of frame, plug the receiver into my iPhone and hit record. Good enough sound pickup. The pair of 2 mics is awesome for interviews. And who cares if you hold them up to your mouth? It's time to get over that "strangeness."
Smallrig USB-C Battery for Fujifilm - $19: amzn.to/4yGQ8zc (aff link)
- I usually carry my Fujifilm X100V or X-T3 with me for street photography or taking photos of my friends. The capacity on this is smaller than official Fujifilm NP-W126S batteries, but that's because it has a USB-C port for charging. I always carry 1 or 2 of these as a spare depending on how long I plan to be out. If the battery ever dies, I plug it into my iPhone with the above short USB-C cable and it can get just enough juice for a few extra shots. Smallrig also sells them for other camera brands and types so make sure you're getting the right one. So far, it hasn't expanded or exploded, which I can't say for other third-party battery brands, so I would count that as good
AirPods 5 - $149: amzn.to/4hTVCzK (aff link)
- AirPods Pro 3 are still the very best for ANC, but I've been loving the AirPods 5. The ANC blocks out more noise than the AirPods 4 with ANC and the battery lasts 5 hours with ANC on a single charge. I alternate between these and AirPods Pro 3. Most of the time I prefer walking down the street without in-ear tips
Hope you guys enjoyed my list!
If you have a sick app optimized for iPhone Duo, shoot me an email: [email protected] with either a link to the app store or test flight. Don’t DM me
I would love to see what fun stuff people are making for the iPhone Duo’s different modes
Fun fact: the original iPhone review published on Gizmodo by @blam has a word count of 12,000-something words
I thought my 7,200-something iPhone Duo would be the longest gadget review on Giz, but I must bow down to the OG 🙇🏻♂️
After a week of testing, my in-depth iPhone Duo review is officially live on @gizmodo!
This is the most comprehensive review that I have written for Gizmodo. It's a real labor of love at over 7,200 words, but I hope it answers all your questions about the iPhone Duo!
An all-new iPhone like this doesn't come around every year, so I went hard on this review. (Maybe too hard.)
There's just so much to talk about in terms of the hardware and software
My colleague @adri_or_adriano also poured his heart and soul into the product photography. This is our best work for a review yet and, dare I say, the best product photography ever published on Gizmodo, in my opinion!
Pros:
✨Gorgeous nano-texture display
📖 Barely visible crease
👌 Smooth vari-angle hinge
📱Thoughtfully designed multitasking
⚡️ Powerful A20 chip
🔊 Terrific speakers
🔋 All-day battery life
✏️ Apple Pencil USB-C support
Cons:
💰 Expensive
🫥 Under-display camera stinks
🪨 Heavy
🔭 No optical telephoto
Touch ID instead of Face ID

Exactly. That’s why I didn’t even bother complaining about the “mess” because it’s not really one imo

New US partners like Perryman and Qnity Electronics have helped to make iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro possible. apple.com/newsroom/2026/10/a…
This is the coolest teardown in a while
Looks like it really might have been a system bug that caused Al those Japanese iPhone Duo pre-order delivery dates to suddenly update to launch day
Prominent Japanese tech creator @tobalog just had his pre-order reversed back to December delivery
Earlier this month Nintendo invited me to play the new Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2, which comes out on 11/5
I only got to play a few levels but seeing the HD graphics for child, updated music, and adult Link and the rich worlds, revamped gameplay (Link can jump now), and chat/convo log just blew me away—this is gonna be game of the year for me over GTA 6
Between Star Wars: Galactic Racer, this game, and Final Fantasy VII: Revelation in April… the nostalgia trip is next level
