I think China basically conducts psychological warfare on the U.S. population which then drives them to empower certain political people who feel powerful given the clout these people give them. China and the rest of the world are not slowing down on AI development. When the stakes are infinite intelligence and control over the solar system you do not slow down. If we slow down AI development, we lose. Period.
Top of the Democratic agenda on day 1 needs to be a pause on advanced AI development, regulation of this out of control industry, and a ban on artificial superintelligence.

Are they going to send this to China too?
Bernie Sanders has written a letter to Sam Altman, Dario Amodei, and Mark Zuckerberg urging them to immediately pause all AI development in the interest of humanity. And he warns if they do not take appropriate action now, the US Senate will.

This is the worst mass doxxing I've ever seen Just personally searched several high end apartment buildings that include people I personally know's PRIMARY residence (not pied a terre) Not only were their units listed, but nearly every unit in the entire building was listed They clearly took an incredibly expansive view of "could be" and just doxxed a huge percentage of all expensive apartments in new york city Fuck absolutely everyone involved in this, this is incredibly dangerous
The city published a list of all properties -- and the names of the owners -- that *could be* subject to the new pied a terre tax in a very easy to search Excel sheet: nyc.gov/site/finance/propert…

This graph is the best defense of capitalism > population grows dramatically > poverty falls off a cliff If you believe in a fixed pie this is impossible. Capitalism makes the pie bigger It incentivized massive jumps forward in food production, medicine, housing, transportation, etc Not a perfect system but the US flavor of free market innovation is by far the best thing to happen to humanity in 2000 years

Fable is currently export controlled & rumors are that 5.6 will also be subject to an approval framework. Whatever jiu jitsu the Chinese are using to get us slow down our own frontier models while letting their models run free appears to be working. Who is capturing who? 🧐🇺🇸
This is what’s causing Anthropic to aggressively beg for govt protection (see below). Customers are finding cheaper alternatives. Keeping employees requires continuing ultra-rich secondaries ($$$) that are dependent on revenue growth. When you can’t win on the field go to DC.

No. Even if Elon and every wealthy person donated their entire wealth, it wouldn't solve poverty at its root. Root causes include weak institutions, education gaps, governance failures, and lack of incentives for productivity and innovation. The funds would mostly be spent quickly. Without mechanisms for ongoing wealth creation, problems would resurface in just a few years as new differences in outcomes emerge. History shows poverty declines most through economic growth and opportunity expansion, not redistribution alone.

And this is why we must also abolish restaurants. cc @AOC
.@satyanadella just put the whole "water" debate to rest. Datacenters run on a closed loop cooling system, the water usage of a datacenter for an entire year is roughly equivalent to a usage of 1 restaurant!

Hard leftists and DSA-types will fight AI tooth and nail because AI is the universal solvent for socialism’s three prerequisites. AI will reduce scarcity (abundance), eliminate victimhood (agency), and eliminate the need for intermediaries (disintermediation).

Exactly this
"Capitalism created the possibility of the win win win. It used to be a zero sum game where somebody won, somebody else lost. The biggest mistake people make, intellectuals in particular, they still think we're in a zero sum world. They're obsessed with some billionaires because Bernie Sanders thinks that Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk somehow stole the money from the people. They don't understand that it's this prosperity machine that's creating more, not just for those billionaires, but for everything that they're touching. They're creating value for their customers, they're creating value for their employees. Their suppliers are flourishing, their investors are seeing their capital go up. It can be reinvested and compound. All philanthropy ultimately comes from business. That's where the profits are. Where does all the taxes come from? It ultimately comes from business as well. This is the engine that's lifting humanity out. The entrepreneurs are the drivers of that engine. Somebody like Elon Musk, he gets a very, very, very tiny sliver of the value that he creates for the whole world." —@iamjohnmackey
