I don't think folks fully realize just how many people stick in awful jobs they hate to keep the health insurance.
There's a reason big companies have spent billions fighting universal health care even though it would save them trillions in employee premiums.

Q: What do Italy, Spain, Romania, Bulgaria, and the UK have in common?
A: Their governments are taxing big energy companies' excess profits to provide tangible inflation relief for working people.
If they can do it, so can Biden and the Democrats.

While you were paying through the nose at the gas pump, Big Oil posted record quarter profits:
Exxon: $17.9 billion
Chevron: $11.6 billion
Shell: $11.5 billion
They're using the cover of inflation to line their pockets.
Yes, it's time for a windfall profits tax on Big Oil.

Shell just made a record quarterly profit of $11.5 billion, beating the record set ... the previous quarter.
Over half the money went to buy stock and issue dividends to enrich investors and execs.
Companies don't "respond" to inflation. They make it.

This year companies are spending a record $1 trillion on stock buybacks to enrich their executives and shareholders.
Companies used to spend that kind of money on employee raises. Then stock buybacks were legalized in the 1980s.

The living standards of working people are already dropping. If the Fed keeps it up, even if we avoid an official “recession," they'll fall even further behind.
Inflation is a problem — but we can tackle it without imposing such a humongous burden on the bottom 80% of Americans.

⚠️BA5 “MORE SERIOUS”—new large Danish study finds that: “Relative to BA.2, there is an **increased risk of being hospitalized** due to #BA5 in the order of 16% to 124% (95% CI)—➡️indicates that BA5 variant is more serious." 👀 This keeps me awake. #COVID19

📍The US #monkeypox situation is spiraling out of control. The Biden WH needs to hurry up its public health emergency declaration. The exponential surge in new daily cases is now near vertical—even a 7-day average curve! +1000 cases yesterday alone 👀

A 🧵 on burnout
Yesterday I learned that when people are burnt out, their amygdala enlarges. For all you non-neuroscientists, here's what that means and why it's important. 1/
