Reverse side preview? City ran in and won the Hanshin 3yo stakes the same year as the inaugural Santa Anita BC so I ran with it

One of the things that stands out with some early Japanese raid attempts in the US is the refusal or neglect to administer raceday medication Maybe Dance in the Mood wins the American Oaks before Cesario if she was on Lasix

There's no way to convey this to newer fans without sounding insane, but EN Uma was not initiated to be a moneymaking venture IMO It is an expensive, in-house commitment to internationalization first, revenue-generating service game second...that just happened to go viral

CyberAgent's streaming platform, Abema, started in 2015 In 2018 Fujita said he was willing to put up 20 billion yen a year (approx $130 million) to prop it up It did not become profitable until 2026, meeting Fujita's goal They have always played the long game

There is a persistent myth that Crunchyroll "forced' Cygames to first-party EN uma. Only those in the exec suite would know, but they absolutely could have found a number of publishers to steward the game. Kakao mgmt of KR began disastrously but has been excellent since year 1

Say what you will about hoyo but the linchpin of their success has been 1) uber-consistent major update cycle 2) worldwide synchronization and 3) self-publishing

the only silver lining to all this is that several hundred international uma trainers were spared the indignity of experiencing LAX and looking at the non-working testament to shambolic subcontracting that is the people mover

The race will end up with just 3 foreign entries at most but it's fun to be delusional and imagine 8 raiders in JC like the old days

John Gosden has ruled Ombudsman out of the Breeders' Cup 🗣️ "I can confirm Ombudsman will not now be heading to the Breeders' Cup. The simple reason is he only ran four days ago and to breeze him and then put him on a plane is a bit much. The Japan Cup is under consideration."

qed now of course I didn't expect this but my attitude is not unfounded there's obviously shit companies in jp but the baseline is generally higher. It's a place where a company feels compelled to issue an apology for raising prices 2 yen

Ultimately, I trust Cygames to make it right in some way, some day, some how, even if it's not 1-to-1. Many of us have waited longer for less (ie Daring Tact fans)

Strange but true: Casino Drive is the only Japanese 3-year-old who ran a race at Santa Anita and did not get second place

Let's napkin math the absurd Google Play 7th vip tix promotion With diamond rate, 50k is $31250 in spend (ignoring free pts) Buying 5k carat packages, that's 2.23 mil carats, or enough to spark 74.4 times (VIP ticket is $430, RT LA-Tokyo flight is $1k, business class is $5k)
