What can you as an individual do to defend yourself against such an abuse? It all comes down to electricity and the only way to not expose yourself to such an attack vector are solar panels and electric vehicles... Venezuela has so many hours of sunshine, it is a no brainer!
Marco Rubio just explained the Venezuela oil deal in one word: China. Speaking on Monday, Rubio said most of the fields handed to the US-backed company had previously been held or operated by Chinese or Russian firms. The deal: > 100-year concessions > 17 Venezuelan oilfields > about 65 billion barrels of proven reserves > US access to those reserves "in a crisis" ONE HUNDRED YEARS. Even Maria Corina Machado, Washington's favourite opposition leader, is now challenging the arrangement. Chinese and Russian companies worked those fields under contracts with Caracas. Now they are pushed aside and the oil is locked up for a century for a US-backed company. That is not a free market. It's a takeover with a State Department briefing attached. And they still call China the "predatory lender".

German pensioners living in Russia are losing €200 from their monthly payments because of fees imposed by Austria’s Raiffeisen Bank International, reports BZ. Since June, the bank has charged €200 per transfer, citing anti-money-laundering and sanctions-compliance checks. At the end of 2025, Germany was paying pensions to 1,115 people living in Russia, with the average monthly amount €514 for men and €337 for women (meaning the fee can swallow between 39% and 59% of their income).

Necessity is the mother of invention... In rural China, when resources are scarce, ingenuity takes the lead. When ready-made solutions are absent, people create their own with their own hands.

This is a dialogue of a venezuelan mother asking her son to send her more than what he is already sending which is 2000 dollars every month, which is a lot in Venezuela where the men usually work for 400 per month, she is scamming her own son who takes all the risk to work in USA

They are having fun, they are playing, I learned that in Venezuela where street dogs are living their best life playing with humans and each other in similar ways, the sad part is that they killed, ate or sold monkeys which are therefore very shy and wouldnt interact w humans

Some people believe that local merchant adoption is irrelevant or not the most important thing, that is because they think it is about economics, but it is about telling a story, 1-on-1 session every purchase, the merchants slowly connecting the dots to understand self custody

A MAN WAS JAILED in the UK yesterday for throwing a plastic water bottle towards a line of police. He told police to “F** off” and was seen “pointing aggressively” at them, court reports show. Del Somerville pleaded guilty. The father-of-two was sentenced to TWO YEARS IN PRISON. Now just think about that for a second. Two years in jail for hurling a plastic bottle, swearing and pointing. Hong Kong protesters LITERALLY threw thousands of Molotov cocktails, and used explosives, arrows, and sharpened spears, sending numerous police officers to hospital. Near my office, protesters threw petrol bombs INTO a police car and covered roads and pavements with spiked booby-traps, one of which went into my foot. And their punishment? The majority of Hong Kong protesters, even at these violent scenes, were let free with cautions. And yet, ridiculously, it’s the Hong Kong authorities who are portrayed as heavy-handed. [Shakes head sadly.] One day someone has to tell the truth about all this. . .

Nine years after #BCH concluded that Blockstream is corrupt, #BTC cypherpunks are now realizing that Bitcoin Cash had good reason to abolish Blockstream, their wrong fundamentals are proven and the comments confirm it 👇
To those responsible for the theft of bitcoin from the Liquid Network: Blockstream will not pay a ransom for the return of stolen funds. Taking assets without authorization and withholding their return is a crime, not responsible disclosure. It is not white-hat activity. It is theft. We have engaged in good faith in an effort to secure the return of stolen user funds and protect the broader Bitcoin community. That effort should not be mistaken for acceptance of the actions taken nor of the terms being demanded. We will not be a party to the precedent that open-source software developed for the good of the Bitcoin community should subject its developers to paying a ransom that far exceeds their economic participation. Bitcoin is hard money and can’t be minted without costs, Bitcoin doesn’t haircut users to pay a ransom. To the Bitcoin community: We are fighting for what we believe in, for the users whose funds were taken, and for the principles on which Bitcoin was built. The community has demonstrated incredible resolve with teams of people dedicating their time in support of each other to identify and patch vulnerabilities in each other's products and systems. We are all driven by the mission that Bitcoin is the single best asset, for every person, company, and institution on the planet to invest, use, and build on. The world is a different place with the advancements of AI, and the Bitcoin community has responded with force to combat that threat. Damage has been done, battles have been lost, but on the whole the Bitcoin community is gaining ground in the war with bad actors. We want to thank the community for those efforts, for your support in hardening the network, helping users recover funds, and for your support in our assertion that crime does not deserve rewards. To those holding the stolen bitcoin: There is still an opportunity to resolve this responsibly. The bitcoin can be returned and we can revert to the standard of white-hat principals. However, if the funds are not returned, we will pursue every lawful avenue available to us. We will work with law enforcement, exchanges, service providers, forensic specialists, and other relevant parties to trace and recover the assets and identify those responsible. More importantly, Bitcoin is transparent by design and the community is made up of the most sophisticated engineers, cryptographers, and white-hat hackers globally. Transactions do not disappear, and neither does the evidence they leave behind. We will not pay for the return of stolen property. We will not abandon our users. The Bitcoin community will not stop pursuing the funds. Return the bitcoin.
