Dave Feldman at #CoSci Las Vegas 100 Hearts. @realDaveFeldman addressed the retraction of the LMHR Coronary Plaque Progression (CCTA) study and explained what led to that decision. A candid look at the data, the analysis, and the reasoning behind pulling the paper, including a surprise twist later. If you want the full story and where this research goes next, the conference recordings are worth it. @realCSF

Siobhan Huggins at CoSci, Las Vegas. Lymphedema is a devastating and often lifelong side effect of cancer treatment. Most of the effort goes into managing it after it appears. Siobhan is asking a different question: could metabolic health before treatment change the risk? Her hypothesis is that insulin resistance may play a role, and metabolic therapies such as ketogenic diets might help reduce that risk. @siobhan_huggins @realDaveFeldman @realCSF

Louis Burns on stage at #CoSci Las Vegas. All Models Are Wrong: Reconciling Carbs vs Calories The carbs vs calories debate may exist because the two models explain different things. Calories help explain body weight and composition. Carbohydrates help explain metabolic health. Both sides may be right, just talking about different problems. @realDaveFeldman @realCSF

Jenna Ericson on stage at #CoSci Las Vegas. Reactive Oxygen Species and Physiological Insulin Resistance Her model: insulin resistance may begin in the mitochondria. When excess electrons back up in the electron transport chain, reactive oxygen species are produced, which can blunt insulin signaling. The fuel you burn may determine how much of that stress your cells generate. @realDaveFeldman @realCSF

Dr. Stephen Hussey on stage at #CoSci Las Vegas. Atherosclerosis: Are We Asking the Wrong Question? For decades the focus has been on cholesterol, LDL, ApoB, Lp(a). But plaque does not form in the bloodstream alone. It forms in a much more complex environment. Dr. Hussey’s point: after decades of narrowing the question to lipids, maybe it is time to start asking different questions. @DrStephenHussey @realCSF @realDaveFeldman

Emily Harari on stage at #CoSci, Las Vegas. How to actually personalize medicine Most lab reference ranges are built on population averages. But none of us are the “average.” Emily talks about microsampling. Small, simple blood samples people can collect at home and send in regularly. The idea is to build your own baseline over time, instead of comparing yourself to a population range that may not fit you at all. @realDaveFeldman @realCSF

Dr. Annette Bosworth on stage at CoSci, Las Vegas. Sequenced Metabolic Repair @AnnetteBosworth presents a striking case of severe metabolic dysfunction. Type 2 diabetes, prior cancer treatment, obesity, edema. HbA1c 10.9%. Triglycerides 547. Standard approaches failed. Even a 21 day water fast did not produce meaningful ketosis. Two years of high dose tirzepatide had no effect. Dr. Boz then shifted the strategy: repair metabolism first. Nutritional ketosis to restore mitochondrial function, then reintroducing GLP-1 therapy at a tiny micro dose. After 90 days: HbA1c down to 6.0%, 44 lbs lost, edema resolved, metabolic flexibility restored. @realDaveFeldman @realCSF #CoSci

At #CoSci in Las Vegas @DominicDAgosti2 Brain Energy and Brain Injury: Considerations for Older Adults We tend to associate traumatic brain injury with athletes or the military. In reality, it is most common in older adults. After 65, even relatively small head impacts can have serious consequences. Dr. D’Agostino framed brain injury as a problem of brain energy and resilience, not just the impact itself. Protecting brain metabolism, maintaining strength and balance, and supporting metabolic health may reduce risk and improve recovery as we age. @realDaveFeldman @realCSF

“I would have had to take that cocktail of meds for the rest of my life just to stay stable.” Matt Baszucki at #CoSci After years of manic psychosis, hospitalizations, and a bipolar diagnosis, he says ketogenic therapy changed everything. “Once I fed my brain the right foods, everything fell into place. My manic episodes stopped.” Now symptom-free after adopting a ketogenic diet under the care of @ChrisPalmerMD. @janellison @Metabolic_Mind @realDaveFeldman @matthewbaszucki

Kicking off Day 3, the final day at CoSci. Dr. Eric Westman: A review of the clinical research on keto diets. Where do we go from here? Keto may be best known as a weight loss diet, but the research goes far beyond that. Dr. Westman reviewed decades of clinical studies on low carb and ketogenic diets and looked at the evidence through an evidence based medicine lens. The big question: where should the next generation of clinical research go? @drericwestman @realDaveFeldman @realCSF
