Well we are off on a 17 day road trip in the morning. While I have a CCW permit and normally donât lock my firearm up (itâs pretty much useless if you need it and itâs locked up) we will be traveling through the state of Illinois and it must be locked up when I am passing through there, as I am not a Illinois resident and they donât recognize Florida CCW. Thatâs the only state that doesnât that we are driving through.
So I bought a portable lock box for that portion of the trip. It also fit a few other things like some spare emergency cash (in case the Chinese decide to hack the entire financial system, and my cards cease to work, a couple of somewhat blingy watches that I like to wear on special occasions, and a spare cigarette lighter, Glock 17 (I travel with that in case it gets confiscated, I wonât give too much of a shit, I would be seriously pissed if they took my Hi-Power)
Thatâs my short term emergency kit. Looking at it when I was done, the thought crossed my mind that the kit has kind of a drug dealer vibe.
I hope we donât get pulled over and searched. I would probably have some âsplannin to doâŠ..đ
I swear if I hear that clown Donalds say âI will keep your taxes low, I will lower your insurance, I will keep Florida affordableâ one more time. I am going to go full Elvis mode and put a .357 round into my TV.

My grandfather built McCormick Spices from nothing after your ancestors tomahawked his wife and kids. I'll be damned if you take another scalp from my family fortune!
In almost 20 years as a Federal Employee, I have learned that budget (money) is power and the larger the budget that you control, the more power you have. I challenge anyone to dispute that simple fact.
And that is why deficit be damned, economic conditions be damned, they are never going voluntarily give up any of that budget.
If fact, they constantly tell the people itâs not enough.
Thanks to Governor Ron DeSantis, here in Florida we have what is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity to take some of that power back from local governments who have been using our homes as their own personal ATM machines to support their reckless spending addiction.
Beware of anyone who tells you differently.
During times of economic downturns we have ALL had tighten up our personal budgets, yet the local governments and their paid shills tell us it will lead to economic doomsday if they are required to do this. We literally have Public School District Administrators making higher salaries than the President of the United States here in Florida.
We MUST vote YES on 3 in November, as we will most likely never get another chance.
What a relief, and here I was all this time thinking that you had to pay somewhat attention to attitude the airplane was in. Who knew it wouldnât let itself get into a dive?
Them airplanes is so smart.

The NFL has released footage of the proper technique Chop Robinson should have used to hit Patrick Mahomes.

Survivor has to be the dumbest low IQ TV show ever produced. My stepson and his girlfriend watch it nonstop. Itâs on constantly, every time I walk through the living room that stupid shit is on my TV. Constant screaming and drama. I hate it. It makes me want to take a sledgehammer to the TV. If they donât take this mindless shit off the TV soon, I am going to snap.
October is upon us and letâs talk Baseball. Even though I am a life long Tigers fan, Ted Williams was still the greatest hitter to ever pick up a piece of lumber and take a swing with it. No one can convince me otherwise.
That is all.
If you are not following @Supersonic_Red here on X, you should be. She provides some of the most insightful and informative commentary you will find on here. Do yourself a solid and give her a follow.
Time for a âBoomerâ rant.
When I picked up the Jeep, I was very pleased with it, and still am. But my head at the time was starting to process the long drive home and the fact that I had to be at work Monday morning, so I forgot to ask the owner about the key to the locking gas cap when he handed me the keys and the paperwork. We loaded up the car, tied it down and off I went.
Anyway, I realized I didnât have that key when I got home, I looked in the glove box, no key.
No big deal, my fault for not asking. It takes about 30 seconds to pop one of those caps off, which is what I did.
The next day, I was a little irritated on my job. I get that way when I have to argue with supposed professionals about a safety issue, people who should know better.
Anyway, after getting off work, I was going to decompress by going to Loweâs and buying a new ceiling fan for the laundry room. And while I was at it, stop at the Auto Parts store, and get a new gas cap (a regular gas cap, I am not a fan of the locking ones).
They had to order it, which is understandable since that style of gas cap hasnât been used on cars in probably at least 40 years.
I was still irritated from work and the conversation went like this:
Parts Guy: âcan I help you?â
Me: âYeah, I need a gas cap for a 1977 Jeep Wagoneerâ
Parts Guy: âWhat engine?â
Keep in mind that has nothing to do with the gas cap, but I understand he has to go through this so the computer can select a part that may or may not be the correct one. Itâs all part of the drill.
Me: â401â
Parts Guy: âWhat Transmission?â
Me: âTurbo 400, probablyâ
Parts Guy: â2 wheel or 4 wheel drive?â
Me: â4 wheelâ
Parts Guy: âwe donât have one in stock, but there is one in Melbourne, we can get it in the morningâ
Me: âno problem, go ahead and order itâ
Parts Guy: âname?â
Me: I gave them my name.
Parts Guy: âaddress?â
Me: I gave them my address.
Parts Guy; âphone number?â
Me: I gave them my phone numberâ
I had no problem with all this. You want to order something they have to be able to contact you.
UntilâŠâŠ..
Parts Guy: âemail address?â
Then the pent up irritation returned and I immediately went into the rebellion mode.
Me: âwhy do you need my email address?â
Parts Guy: â because the computer wonât let me order the part without itâ
Me: âwhat happens if I donât have email? Are you telling me I canât buy a gas cap for my car without a email address?â
Parts Guy: âthere is a way around it, but I donât know how to do it. Why wonât you just give me your email address?â
(Now he wants to argue, I have been arguing all afternoon at work, now I have to argue with the guy at the auto parts store)
Me: â because I get 100âs of junk emails every day, and I have to waste time going through them to make sure I donât miss something that I need to read and might be semi important. Thatâs why I donât give out my email to auto parts clerks, cashiers at stores and such. The junk emails are overwhelming, get it? I shouldnât need to provide a email address to buy a gas cap for my car!â
Parts Guy: âSir, can you please just give me your email address to we can get this over with, there are other people waiting in line.
Me after looking around and seeing a couple of people behind me actually laughing:
âOkâ
I typed in [email protected].
The computer took the order.
This is what my wife doesnât understand, she says I am always living in the past. I watch old movies, I listen to old rock&roll music on my old 1970âs Marantz stereo with my old JBL speakers, and I enjoy driving old cars. It reminds me of when life was simpler.
I enjoyed it back when I went into a auto parts store, asked for a gas cap, and they pulled it off a shelf, handed it to me, took my money, and I was on my way.
Found the Wagoneer I was searching for. Itâs a 1977 Z Code with the 401. Canât wait to get it home and start working on it.
Genius, pure genius.
Dear Rascal and Tony, I need this, I need it bad.
Rascal found out he got to partner with the beloved & celebrated @RoofKorean7 for this week's giveaway and that varmint has been strutting around the shop with his chest puffed out all morning, lol.
We are happy to promote this great example of American resourcefulness and bravery as well as his book Rooftop Korean: Memoir of the 1992 L.A. Riots which is set to release tomorrow, 09/15/2026!
Tony said to do it right! So, we are including in this week the BALLISTIC ADDITION of his new book which has both a shot right through the title page but the legend's signature as well! These were very limited and I was very surprised he had one left to offer you fine folks!
We could not get Tony to throw in his Daewoo rifle, understable, so Rascal is coming through for you all with the new Harrington & Richardson Retro M16A1 20" 5.56 rifle!
Given X has new feelings about our festivities we are asking all the long time folks to inform our new friends of how it all works!
Please check out @wargate and wargatebooks.com to make your purchase this week and support Tony!
Thanks, as always, to @SummRidge , and all others that help make these possible!
I need some help. This was my old Jeep Wagoneer. I loved it. It was reliable, roomy, had I fairly comfortable ride and was more capable off road than it looked. I have decided that for my daily driver for my upcoming retirement, I want another one. My Ram 2500 is out of warranty now, and I am getting tired of every time I have the slightest electrical issue with it, it always ends up costing me $1000.00 at the dealership for whatever the module of the day is that needs to be replaced. Plus Diesel used to be cheaper than gas, and it hasnât been for a while and probably never will be again. Plus, a vehicle from that era is simple and I can keep it running in my own driveway. And I donât have to worry about big daddy shutting down my vehicle if he thinks I shouldnât be going where I am going. So I am going back to the past for the rest of my automotive life.
The problem is, I have been searching for an adequate vehicle for months now. And most of the ones I see are either $7000 rusted out pieces of crap, or $40,000+ late model restored versions that are more than I want to spend and to be honest, the later Grand Wagoneer s are a little to plush for me.
My criteria is â74-â81 model years, no MAJOR rust, a little is okay, I just donât want to get into extensive body work. I donât care about the paint or minor mechanical issues. I donât want to turn around and have to rebuild the engine, but would consider doing so for a rust free vehicle. I have cash, and will travel for the right vehicle. If anyone has one they are considering getting rid of, or knows someone who does, contact me please.
As a reward, I will pay for food and drink for you and one other at your favorite establishment for a successful lead.
Thanks.

My dear friends, it is with great pleasure that Harvey, Rascal, and myself (with the ever present support of @SummRidge , of course) bring you our first BIG COZY CONTEST!
My most beloved season is Autumn, then Winter, Spring, & Summer. In that order. SO, when Ken suggested to our venerable X wholesome poster, @OldHollowTree , that he sweeten up one of our giveaways, and the good man buzzed at the opportunity, deciding to offer up a Humming Meadow mug, I got excited and decided to try and rope in a bunch of wholesome Americana to help us get through this last bit of summer heat and look towards autumn.
With great generosity of spirit we, all of us, considered breaking the prizes up and, perhaps, next time, we will. However, they all compliment each other so very well that I simply cannot do it.
THERE WILL BE ONE WINNER OF THIS GRAND HONEY POT!đŻ
If I were to tag each of our wonderful participants in this post X would see to it that this post got very little algorithmic traction. That we cannot abide. So, I have included their name and handle next to each their items. GO GIVE THESE SWEETIES SOME LOVE! DO THE THINGS!
This will run until the following Monday, as always.
First, Rascal has for you a Browning AB3 Hunter in .308!
If you do not already know how to play along, read the comments and or ask around, our community is kind and will help you out. It is everything you might guess!
Love you all, Love this community, and I love a big cozy autumn. Cheers my friend, and a big southern hug. Let the festivities begin.
