I've posted to Stack Overflow, Reddit, Twitter instead of Quora, Pinterest, Facebook, because my posts are readable by anyone, not only logged in users. As site rules change, it changes my motivation to post.
Also: I blog at simblob.blogspot.com/ ; it has RSS too

New talk! About the divided human & agent worlds, boundary objects, and building thicker interfaces
I've been exploring how to improve "planning", aka. deciding what agents should build, how you want it built, & making the whole team part of that process

A long time ago I lost the source to a game I made. Joe has reverse engineered it. I've just started reading the code and … wow, it's bringing back so many fond memories!
With all the reverse engineering of games going on, I decided to attempt it on a game from my youth: the DOS BBS door game Solar Realms Elite. The original game's source code was lost in 1996. github.com/joeshaw/sre-recon…

similar to how I feel about compilers sometimes: they do all this internal stuff for their own work, tracking provenance, eliminating dead code, but the interface with the human only exposes a fraction of it (whatever can become an 'error' or 'warning')
Replying to @rsnous
Smartphones invented a to-do list for computers (the notifications drawer). It's just never a tool of the human. You can't save or reorder notifications and see a history of them. You can't create your OWN notifications.

I was looking at assigning "a" vs "an" articles for English nouns (for procgen purposes), and fell into a rabbit hole…

incredible model, very cheap and fast. definitely feels like a leap forward for creating new UX/UI paradigms on top of modern language models.

✍️ Playing with programmable highlighters, e.g.
* green highlight on a citation -> finds and prints the cited paper
* orange highlight on a claim -> prints a skeptical fact-check
Extends naturally to "if I write a comment like 'Is there more recent work?' and circle it in purple, send the comment with surrounding context to an agent"

I'm using a lot of Lean at work. They've recently added Float.Model which let's you prove things about IEEE floats, so I tried out Quake III's inverse square trick.

This is very cool, python 3.14+ allows you to attach to a running python process with pdb w/o needing any code instrumentation
