We are deeply honored to announce @crossriverbank’s partnership with SBI Holdings and our plan to build a joint venture in Japan.
Kitao-san founded SBI in 1999 and built it into one of Japan’s most remarkable financial groups, a true pioneer of internet finance. It is a privilege to build alongside him. With JPYSC, Japan’s first trust-type yen stablecoin, SBI is leading the way once again.
Together, we look forward to advancing financial inclusion across Japan and Asia-Pacific, starting with cross-border payments, agentic finance and onchain solutions.
Our sincere thanks to Kitao-san and the SBI team for their trust and partnership, and to Pravesh Rijal, Benjamin Samuels, Daniel Listhaus, Hasan Nawaz, Benjamin Melnicki and Arlen Gelbard for making this happen.

When the Fed doesn't move tomorrow the US will still have among the highest real policy rates of any of the major central banks in the world--a turnaround from the past when we tended to be on the low end.
Due to a combo of our strong growth & inflationary pressures.

RED STATE CFPB: Dem AGs aren’t the only ones pursuing cases the Trump 2.0 CFPB has dropped. In recent weeks, GOP attorneys general have joined in two big-ticket settlements with Snap Finance and Credit Acceptance Corp., both sued by @ChopraUSA in cases that @russvought dropped.

🚨UPDATE: @ABABankers isn’t happy with the @USOCC’s final GENIUS Act rule, saying it “will preserve the status quo for crypto platforms” after the regulator dropped its proposed restrictions on stablecoin yield.
“Attempting to address deposit flight and economic harm after it has occurred is the wrong approach,” ABA CEO @BankersPrez says.

A big week for regulations kicked off yesterday, as Paradigm partnered with @fund_defi, @jump_, @SolanaInstitute, and @Uniswap to comment on Treasury’s proposed rule regarding who can issue, offer, and sell stablecoins in the US under the GENIUS Act.
Congress struck a careful balance in GENIUS: rules for issuers and intermediaries, and protections for decentralized infrastructure developers and providers.
Treasury’s proposal is a good start, but blurs that clear line in key places.

Great to have @BrentJMcIntosh, chief legal officer at @Citi, on the pod to talk about how one of the biggest banks in the world is thinking about AI right now. We also discuss why Citi and others formed the Alliance for Critical Infrastructure. Great stuff! (Link in reply)

Regulators are weighing raising the $100 billion threshold for #regional bank regulations & $700 billion mark for super-regionals. They’ve already taken action on a series of changes for #banks with less than $10 #billion.

My office is hiring an Artificial Intelligence Policy Fellow to help shape AI legislation and track AI developments in the private sector as Congress works to keep pace with the technology.
Experience in AI, policy research, or national security is encouraged.
The new fellow being hired by @RepNateMoran looks set to be the only staffer recruited directly by a member of Congress to focus exclusively on AI

Reuters reported, citing three people, that more than half of the CFPB exams resumed this spring went through an "expedited review." The CFPB did not respond to Reuters.
Lighter exams, same rules. Often the strictest reviewer is a bank partner or a state.
