I am deeply saddened to learn of Walter Koenig’s passing.
Although we did not know each other well away from the set, we shared the later seasons of the original Star Trek series and the six films that followed.
What I observed, and what so many fans have expressed over the years, was a man who genuinely loved the Star Trek community.
At conventions, Walter was rarely content to remain behind a signing table. He preferred to be among the people who had kept Star Trek alive for so many decades.
That kind of genuine connection is rare, and it will be remembered by everyone who came into contact with him.
My condolences to his family, his friends, and the countless fans whose lives he touched.

I haven’t watched any trailers for DUNE 3.
And I’m not going to.
I remain interested in seeing it and will.
Yet I’m not hung up on Villenueve’s adaptation deviations.
I mean Jodoworsky’s would have pissed you off in that case (with a 32yo Mick Jagger as Feyd-Rautha🤷🏻♂️)
I get the criticism of Villenueve’s Chani yet she remains interesting to me. These movies don’t challenge me, they piss me off in places. Yet overall it’s a great set of movies based on some of my favorite sci-fi novels.
When Paul becomes Emperor, he’s no longer a Hero. It’s impossible. He becomes the system in which to “take down”.
And then Paul becomes The Preacher again not the Hero! Far from it. Paul has Three Acts!
Paul continues through Leto II (or will he in DUNE 3?🤷🏻♂️ I mean IMHO Lynch’s 1984 is a complete story, there’s no room for a sequel with the rain at the very end🤷🏻♂️. It closed there, do you “get it?”)
Villenueve chooses Intersectional Post Modernism, I don’t think he has a choice not to🤷🏻♂️
Hence the changes in Kynes in 1, the omission of Thufir’s
Fate in 2, Chani being a typical
Unlikable Feminist skeptic in order to balance Stilgar’s blind religious zealot.
Yet they’re such good movies. Music, sound design, costumes, scope, execution.

I’m a little bitter over mine. In this current age of bad Star Trek to have defended Picard Season Three and not back down. Robert Meyer Burnett swore up and down it had the goods, so I bought a used copy on Blu-ray. I ended up loving it and even got the ship for the shelf with the rest of my enterprises. I kinda want to film myself setting them on fire and actually earn that block.

I found out that Terry Matalas the guy that made the incredible Picard Season 3 blocked me. I found this out by accident saying he should have been the show runner on Lanterns. I was kinda shocked by this never had a negative or antagonist exchange with the guy. Now I got to throw away my Picard S3 stuff off my Trek shelf.
