For the first time in more than half a century, there are no binding limits on strategic nuclear arsenals.
This undermines the security of the entire international community.
I urge all states to engage constructively with every effort that brings us closer to the total elimination of nuclear weapons.

I condemn today’s military escalation in the Middle East. The use of force by the United States & Israel against Iran, and the subsequent retaliation by Iran across the region, undermine international peace & security.
All Member States must respect their obligations under international law, including the Charter of the @UN. The Charter clearly prohibits “the threat of the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations.”
I call for an immediate cessation of hostilities & de-escalation. Failing to do so risks a wider regional conflict with grave consequences for civilians & regional stability. I strongly encourage all parties to return immediately to the negotiating table.
I reiterate that there is no viable alternative to the peaceful settlement of international disputes, in full accordance with international law, including the UN Charter. The Charter provides the foundation for the maintenance of international peace and security.

Statement from the Nobel Foundation
One of the core missions of the Nobel Foundation is to safeguard the dignity of the Nobel Prizes and their administration. The Foundation upholds Alfred Nobel’s will and its stipulations. It states that the prizes shall be awarded to those who "have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind," and it specifies who has the right to award each respective prize. A prize can therefore not, even symbolically, be passed on or further distributed.

La retirada de Estados Unidos de los acuerdos y organizaciones internacionales no es nueva. De hecho, la importancia de las organizaciones internacionales y las instituciones multilaterales reside en su función, no de representar los intereses privados de un solo país, sino de salvaguardar los intereses comunes de sus Estados miembros. Por esta razón, el sistema internacional, con las Naciones Unidas como núcleo, ha mantenido la paz y la estabilidad mundiales, promovido el desarrollo económico y social y garantizado la igualdad de derechos de todos los países durante más de 80 años.
La situación internacional actual demuestra una vez más que solo el funcionamiento eficaz de un sistema multilateral puede evitar la propagación de la "ley de la selva" y garantizar que el orden internacional no esté dominado por la idea de que "la fuerza hace la justicia" y "la fuerza es justicia". Esto es lo que la mayoría de los países, especialmente las naciones pequeñas y débiles, necesitan hoy en día.
Independientemente de cómo evolucione la situación, China siempre defenderá el multilateralismo, apoyará a las Naciones Unidas en su papel central en los asuntos internacionales y trabajará con la comunidad internacional para promover la construcción de un sistema de gobernanza global más justo y equitativo.
