A lovely tradition today that all the previous Prime Ministers pay respects to those who they underfunded, prosecuted and sent to die in pointless wars.

Robert Altman sabotaged his own film by casting improv legend Robin Williams as Popeye, then banning him from improvising. Williams reportedly dubbed it “Stalag Altman.”
The film was fuelled by “two tons of cocaine” and even included a brothel, an unheard‑of anomaly for Disney.
Paul McCartney and Denny Laine wrote Mull of Kintyre, and in 1977 it became the first single to sell 2 million copies in Britain. By 1986 Laine was bankrupt, owing £76,035, and McCartney's company paid him £135,000 for the rest of his share of the song.
In the video below, Laine remembers McCartney playing him the chorus at breakfast in Scotland: "I said, well, that's a possible hit."
Laine co-founded Wings in 1971 and stayed all 10 years, at first on £70 a week. "Paul had written the chorus, but we wrote the rest of it together, and most of the lyrics were mine," he said.
The song spent 9 weeks at No. 1 over Christmas. Laine left Wings in 1981. Asked in 1986 whether McCartney might help with his debts, he laughed: "No, I think he regards all this as part of my training."
He died in 2023, after his wife started a GoFundMe for his medical bills. Five months later the Sunday Times named McCartney Britain's first billionaire musician.
The case for McCartney: he had the chorus on a 1974 piano demo, and the song is about his own farm. Laine told the bankruptcy court he had been "well off." He bought a £30,000 Ferrari he crashed and a £32,000 boat that ran aground.
If the only buyer for your share is your partner, he sets the price. Get a second offer before you sell.
So did McCartney bail out a broke bandmate with £135,000, or buy back a Christmas No. 1 cheap from a co-writer who needed cash fast?
I post one famous deal like this every day, with who got paid, who got played, and the numbers that never made the poster.

BREAKING 🚨: MI5 have confirmed that a high profile “RIGHT WING” activist has been working for them under cover and they have even lied to multiple courts to try cover it up.
The high court ruled that it wouldn’t be in the public interest to bring contempt proceedings against MI5.

7th November 1917 – The British Capture of Gaza 🇬🇧
On this day in 1917, British forces captured Gaza from the Islamic Ottoman Empire during the First World War.
Following months of fierce fighting, British troops under General Edmund Allenby secured Gaza after Muhammadan forces withdrew.
The victory broke the Ottoman defensive line in southern Palestine and opened the way for the British advance towards Jerusalem, which fell the following month.

Traci Lords was raped at 10 by a boy she had a crush on. Her stepfather started molesting her in her sleep shortly after. Her mother knew and did nothing - then moved the entire family to California to live with him. He introduced her to cocaine and turned their home into a war zone. When her mother finally left, she abandoned her 14-year-old daughter alone with the man who was abusing her.
At 15 she got pregnant. Her boyfriend disappeared. The only person left standing next to her was her molester. He drove her to a nude modeling agency with a fake ID that said she was 22. She walked in as a broken 15-year-old girl and walked out as a model.
"It felt good to be wanted. All of a sudden in my life I was important."
Within months she was the biggest name in porn. Penthouse cover at 16. Over a hundred hardcore films before she turned 18. High school student by day - the most famous adult actress in America by night. Nobody in the industry knew she was a child.
"Pornography for me was about complete and total rage. It was about hate."
When the FBI kicked down her door and the truth came out - every single film she ever made became illegal child pornography overnight. Tapes were thrown in the trash by the thousands. The industry lost millions. Producers went to trial. She was let go as an underage victim.
She changed her name. Disappeared. Then clawed her way into Hollywood. Starred alongside Johnny Depp in Cry-Baby. Landed Melrose Place. Became a sci-fi icon. Wrote a bestselling autobiography.
The girl who was failed by every adult in her life - her father, her mother, her stepfather, the entire porn industry - became the only person in history to successfully walk out of porn and into mainstream fame.
Was Traci Lords a victim of the system - or the only person tough enough to beat it from the inside?
