Our natural gas operations crews have been on the ground near the Piedra River since last Friday, where historic flooding damaged a large section of natural gas pipeline. By working around the clock and through rapid engineering, system modeling and operational adjustments, our teams have maintained the natural gas service that thousands of customers in Colorado mountain communities rely on to heat their homes as temperatures drop. With another significant weather system expected this weekend, potentially bringing heavy rain and additional flooding, our immediate priority is maintaining natural gas stability, preparing for any additional impacts to infrastructure or access, and keeping our employees and the public safe during unpredictable storm conditions.

Our crews in Wisconsin traded transmission poles for the waters of Lake Superior last week, replacing the 13,000-foot underwater cable that connects Bayfield, Wisconsin, to Madeline Island. We're proud to deliver reliable energy to our customers, no matter the location.

Historic flooding in southwest Colorado is impacting many of the communities we serve. Floodwaters have damaged a natural gas supply line that serves portions of the mountain natural gas system and are impacting individual homes and businesses, potentially causing natural gas outages. Damaged infrastructure and road closures are currently limiting access to the affected area and delaying assessment and repair activities. Crews are prepared to evaluate the system and begin repairs as soon as flood conditions subside. We are working around the clock with neighboring utilities, including Black Hills Energy and Atmos Energy, and regional partners to evaluate available options and support continuing safe and reliable natural gas service. We encourage customers to be prepared in the event natural gas service is impacted. For preparation tips, visit co.my.xcelenergy.com/s/outag…
