Morning. Just a reminder that the ref didn’t even give this as a foul. And then when VAR said possible red card he decided it was only a yellow because McAtee had played the ball wide. About three inches wide by the look of it. Shambles. Again. #nffc

RIP Caryle Murphy, who reported from inside occupied Kuwait in 1990, hiding from Iraqi troops. She would roll a typewritten story into a tube, dress as a jogger, run past an embassy and throw the tube over the wall to get the story out. @amcovarrubias washingtonpost.com/obituarie…

Ratcliffe's August mission: "The U.S. and its allies have long suspected that Putin’s advisers may be misleading him about Russia’s chances of success in Ukraine. If Ratcliffe could help convince Putin that he was pursuing a lost cause, perhaps he’d finally come to the table."

My story: theguardian.com/us-news/2026… Endearingly, there was a group of extremely squirmy middle schoolers who sat in for the first part of the hearing as part of an educational trip. During a break, one of them asked the judge who was winning the case.
We are in a break in a discovery hearing on the BBC case, but Federal magistrate judge Enjoliqué Lett has ordered Donald Trump to sit for a deposition by Dec. 11 -- and for his team to comply with the discovery process in the case -- or they could face sanctions, up to dismissal of the case.

Hand on my heart, my first day at the White House, Trump asked me if I knew what the H stood for. I said no. He said Horatio. I think about that at least once a week. 😭
Why do people say Jesus H Christ. What does it stand for. What is his middle name

NOW BBC lawyers hit back at Trump's deposition delay in latest filing ... 1) Point out that Trump is the plaintiff not the defendant 2) Urge the court not to accept without question that request for delay is down to national security matters 3) Say BBC is happy to accommodate special security measures 4) Argue that request not to videorecord Trump deposition is "unexplained"
NEW Trump hits back on BBC deposition date. Says deposition cannot be videoed In latest filing, he accuses BBC of failing to fully confer with his lawyers to set date Says matters of national importance that precluded deposition included conflict in Iran (BBC says agreed date was postponed because of a rally) Trump is willing to sit for deposition within the period of January 11 through January 22, 2027

IN SECRETS later today: It's an open secret among pollsters how easy it would be to fabricate a poll and then feed it to aggregators or numerically illiterate reporters to shift a race in one direction or another

For those of you wondering how to reconcile Reuters and WSJ "exclusives" on whether Musk or White House throttled Ukraine's access to Starshield, well @Barnes_Joe at the Telegraph had a credible explanation for the conflicting accounts five days ago.
EXCLUSIVE: Elon Musk came to Donald Trump with the plan to throttle Ukraine’s use of SpaceX’s Starshield satellite internet network, sources have told the Telegraph. The tech billionaire made the proposal during the US President’s row with Volodymyr Zelensky over strikes on Russian oil refineries. ‘The reality is that they were both in it,’ a senior source said of Musk’s and Trump’s involvement. But after a night of carnage in Kyiv caused by the slowdown, Musk was alarmed about the possibility of adverse consumer reaction in Europe. The SpaceX boss then proceeded to tweet, blaming the US administration, and ultimately, President Trump for authorising the slowdown. ‘He tweeted out that he was innocent and that it was the US administration that did it,’ the source said.

NEW BBC pushes again for a date for President Trump to give his deposition in defamation suit. It was originally Oct 16 - but Trump said "matters of national importance" meant he would be unavailable. BBC lawyers rather dryly say they now know what those "matters of national importance" were ...
