I had to say this, sorry...
@madebygoogle pretty much just did what @nothing has been doing and advocating for the last 4 years. And I’m actually very happy to see Google also come to this line of thinking.
Phones should help us use phones less. Sounds stupid when you say it like that... but that’s literally the point.
I always felt dedicated dumb phones / minimal phones were not really the answer. After a point it feels like physical preachiness... like you need to buy a less capable device just to control yourself.
Why can’t a normal smartphone be intentional?
That was kinda the whole idea behind Glyph Interface. Useful things on the back... your phone communicating with you without needing you to enter the screen every single time.
And now Google joins the party with Pixel HiLight :)
Love Gemini too, we have it on our Nothing phones as well... and then our @essential suite of tools on top. But honestly all of this is just the start.
The real change is when the OS itself becomes agentic... understands your context, knows what you’re trying to do and actually does things for you. You stop going into 5 apps and tapping through 10 screens just to get one thing done.
And I think THAT will amplify intentional smartphone usage massively.
Technology doing more... while slowly disappearing into the background.
So we can actually stay in the moment.
Welcome to the intentional smartphone dream :)

Just finished your 4th #thursdaymurderclub audiobook "The Last Devil to Die" read by the fantastic Fiona Shaw. I often laugh at books but for the 1st time I had tears in my eyes during this listen (not gr8 on a lunchtime run 😆). Beautifully wrote, my fav so far

Ikonic are proud of what our team members achieve in their free time. A great example of this is Martin Szmierek. Playing guitar in a band fronted by his brother @antonyszmiereky. They have a big year ahead with gigs and festivals planned UK wide:

In the Autumn our Ikonic team took on our biggest challenge to date. A fire walk over 500°C burning hot coal. A huge congratulations to everyone involved who helped to raise over £27,000 for Duchenne UK.
Watched @222aghoststory at the weekend. Great performances by @mattjwillis & @thewhitmore (and other cast) didn't see the twist I'd highly recommend! #twitter @ Criterion Theatre instagram.com/p/CmEVDURokUAn… – at London, England
