Met and chatted with @RockUSoftball assistant coach @suziemuenz today—such a sweet, fun lady! A few things from our conversation deserve to be shared. 🥎 When you message a coach, show that you’ve done your research. WHY are you interested in their school and program? Give them more than an email with the school name swapped out. That includes academics! Interested in the medical field like nursing or physical therapy? Rockhurst is a school to explore. Your recruiting search should support what you want to do AFTER softball. And athletes, hear this: don’t get so focused on D1 that you miss a program that genuinely fits you. D2 and D3 coaches are recruiting players who are intentionally interested in THEIR programs. While you’re holding out for D1, they’re building relationships and filling spots. By the time you broaden your search, an opportunity you assumed would still be there may already belong to someone else. Those programs deserve more than being someone’s backup plan. A division number isn’t a talent ranking. There are talented athletes, competitive teams, and exceptional coaches across D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO. A D1 label doesn’t automatically mean a team could beat everyone in another division. Look at the actual TEAM. The coaching. The culture. The degree. The opportunity to grow and contribute. Dream big, absolutely. But keep your eyes open wide enough to recognize a great fit—even if it looks different than you originally pictured. 💙

What you read matters. What you listen to matters. What you think matters. Who you surround yourself with matters. How you prepare matters. How much you sleep matters. How you treat people matters. How you take care of your body matters. How you spend your time matters. Your environment matters. Inputs drive outputs.

Christian Yelich - Team standards create culture… which in turn creates winning. Refreshing to hear Major league players talk like this, and most importantly apply it…

Worry is wasted energy. You can only compete in the now.
Good life lesson from Pat Murphy about how worrying is a "waste of time." @FoulTerritoryTV | #WorldSeries

“We are not here for egos… we are here to win a ring.” How refreshing…. 90% of travel teams, 70% of HS teams, and 50% of college teams… could take a hard lesson from the best!
I asked Trevor Megill his thoughts after not coming in for the save/Murph keeping Ashby out there for the 2nd time this postseason. His answer, “we’re not here for egos, we’re here to win a ring.” #Brewers | #WinOurWay

Care about winning but don’t need it to be at peace. Care about the outcome but don’t need it to define you. Care about performing your best but don’t need it to determine your worth. Fully committed to your craft. Fully content with who you are. Competitive Joy.

You don't go from A to Z without going A to B, B to C, C to D. Step by step. Day by day. Decision by decision. No shortcuts. Progress is a process. Keep showing up. 🪵🪓

We live in a society that wants to skip the struggle. Success without setbacks. Confidence without preparation. Results without the work. But growth doesn’t work that way. The struggle is where toughness is built and confidence is earned. Respect the struggle.

You don't have to feel confident to act with courage. You don't have to feel ready to show up. You don't have to feel motivated to give your best effort. You don't have to feel good to bring a good attitude. Live the standard, not your feelings.

You don't need good circumstances to have a good mindset. Let your mindset shape the way you see your circumstances. Perspective is a choice. Own the way you think.
