Shambles that the players have to make a stand. Left out to dry by their Association.
The FAI should've taken this decision out of the players' hands @IrelandAMVMTV 🎥

Quite incredibly, it appears that this match will not available to view legally in continental Europe. #ETPL
Meanwhile means the Rotterdam Dockers will have an all-or-nothing situation this afternoon. A win against Dublin sees them through to the final, lose and they'll be eliminated. #ETPL

🔴 Day 1,809 since the Taliban closed secondary schools to Afghan girls. Strong, independent women make a society. Afghanistan will suffer from their ongoing exclusion from public life. You are not forgotten. #Afghanistan #LetAfghanGirlsLearn

Girls in Afghanistan have been barred from formal education beyond grade six since September 2021, and women from universities since December 2022.   "UNICEF calls on the de facto authorities to lift the restrictions on education and allow all girls and women to return to schools and universities immediately," - @unicefchief Read more: unicef.link/3TMjEUZ

Only once or twice a month. For half of Afghan women, that's how often they leave their homes. Excluding women and girls in #Afghanistan from public life must NEVER be normalized. 🔗 Five years since the Taliban takeover, learn their realities: unwo.men/EhBx50ZzoXm

Wearing pink burqas would've shown solidarity. How much did your virtue signalling pink shirts costs? Cricket may be for everyone but it isn't for Afghan women and girls who are prisoners in their own homes. #DontForgetAfghanWomen

@RTEsport @rtenews , anything to say about Ireland playing Afghanistan at cricket as if it’s a normal country
#Afghanistan: UN experts warn against the normalization of the Taliban rule, urge states to accelerate steps towards accountability in the face of increasing restrictions imposed on the population, including women and girls, over the past year. ohchr.org/en/press-releases/…

Well done women of @ni_wrn for attending the men’s cricket fixture between Ireland and Afghanistan and raising awareness of the terrible plight of Afghan women. @cricketireland has organised five one-day internationals against the Afghanistan men’s team despite widespread criticism. While @ECB_cricket has stated it will not arrange unilateral fixtures against Afghanistan and will only play @ICC international tournaments, Ireland has opted to show its support for Afghanistan’s women by kitting its staff out in pink clothing… that’ll show the Taliban what’s what 🤦🏻‍♀️
Today we respectfully protested the @cricketireland decision to host the Afghanistan Mens Cricket team playing at Stormont. While handing out leaflets showing the scale of the human rights violations against women, we were thanked for raising awareness by fans of both teams. Female participation in sport has effectively been outlawed since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021. @WomensRightsNet @WRNAfghanistan and all local groups work to raise awareness of the plight of afghan women who have been erased from public life and suffer horrific abuses. CI should be supporting this. As should most other boards. Only way to fix the game is for the many to challenge the few
So a belated statement today from the KNCB and Cricket Scotland on the changes to the World Cup and the lack of process and consultation that lead up to it. Notable that apparently none of the other ODI/HP boards signed on to it.
