So excited to be working on this project with @wildlandsnetwrk & @MojaveDesertLT. Our rescue dogs turned Conservation Dogs, Siska & Merlin are looking forward to getting paws on the ground & noses to the wind in search of genetic data on pumas & bobcats. ๐ฆ๐

What arrived in mail from Australia? Our retired #ConservationDog, Filson just got fan art! ๐ฅฒ Heโs featured in Andrea Roweโs book, โDogs with Jobsโ for his work sniffing for endangered species & illustrator, Julia Murray sent him a print as a keepsake ๐

๐๐พto everyone who reached out during the recent PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) Red Flag Alert in WA. All 20 of our dogs & staff are safe. We ran through our fire evacuation protocols in case of a Level 3 evac notice. Grateful to ALL the wildland firefighters. #wildfire
๐ We've been bee-sy! Our #ConservationDog Echo recently detected not 1, but 2 bumble bee nests! Every nest detected helps researchers learn more about where these pollinators live. We're so proud of our Bumblebee Dogโs noses, helping uncover some of nature's best-kept secrets.
Meet our retired Conservation Dogs: our Grey Muzzle Club, our Old Guard. Adopted from shelters for their love of fetch, they dedicated their careers in service to wildlife.
Pips (17) Winnie (16), Dio (14), Beckett (13), Filson (12). We ๐ you so much. You earned your couch time.

๐ป And while we may call them our ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ธ๐ฃ๐ข๐ณ๐ฌ๐ข๐ด, the truth is theyโre less sidekick and more Jedi Master. Our dogs are our guides, partners, and the ones truly leading this (wildlife detection) mission.

Our #rebel crews bushwhack through steep terrain, trusting the Nose to lead the way toward scats about the size of a Kowakian monkey-lizardโs ๐ฉ. The odds feel long, but our four-legged rogues are very good at finding hope in impossible places.
๐ซ๐ฒ #MayTheForestBeWithYou
It feels only fitting that #StarWars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi was filmed in the very forests where we survey. Though, if weโre being honest, what our teams crawl through each day feels a little less Endor and a little more Dagobah.
๐ฒOur squadron of marten dogs, Rogues Ranger, Echo, Whisper, & Siska, have been deep in the Forest Moon of Endor this spring, sniffing for one of the rarest forest predators in the galaxy: the coastal marten. Small, scrappy, & surprisingly fierce, think Ewok, but w sharper teeth.
๐คSnooze time in the field on our intense coastal marten surveys. This study area is steep & rugged, requiring all our physical (& mental) fortitude.
Sure, our #ConservationDogs are go, go, go but itโs important we stop & rest so they can keep on sniffing for wildlife.
Happy Earth Day! ๐ ๐
Tune in to a LIVE chat with @OPB @OPBTOL featuring @roguedetection cofounders as they talk about our furry pack of rescue dogs turned Conservation Canines, & all the hard work they do for wildlife & the environment.
