BREAKING: Wife of Renee Good, Becca Good, has just released a statement. :
“First, I want to extend my gratitude to all the people who have reached out from across the country and around the world to support our family. This kindness of strangers is the most fitting tribute because if you ever encountered my wife, Renee Nicole Macklin Good, you know that above all else, she was kind. In fact, kindness radiated out of her.
Renee sparkled. She literally sparkled. I mean, she didn’t wear glitter but I swear she had sparkles coming out of her pores. All the time. You might think it was just my love talking but her family said the same thing. Renee was made of sunshine. Renee lived by an overarching belief: there is kindness in the world and we need to do everything we can to find it where it resides and nurture it where it needs to grow.
Renee was a Christian who knew that all religions teach the same essential truth: we are here to love each other, care for each other, and keep each other safe and whole. Like people have done across place and time, we moved to make a better life for ourselves. We chose Minnesota to make our home. Our whole extended road trip here, we held hands in the car while our son drew all over the windows to pass the time and the miles.
What we found when we got here was a vibrant and welcoming community, we made friends and spread joy. And while any place we were together was home, there was a strong shared sense here in Minneapolis that we were looking out for each other. Here, I had finally found peace and safe harbor. That has been taken from me forever. We were raising our son to believe that no matter where you come from or what you look like, all of us deserve compassion and kindness. Renee lived this belief every day. She is pure love. She is pure joy. She is pure sunshine. On Wednesday, January 7th, we stopped to support our neighbors. We had whistles. They had guns.
Renee leaves behind three extraordinary children; the youngest is just six years old and already lost his father. I am now left to raise our son and to continue teaching him, as Renee believed, that there are people building a better world for him. That the people who did this had fear and anger in their hearts, and we need to show them a better way.
We thank you for the privacy you are granting our family as we grieve. We thank you for ensuring that Renee’s legacy is one of kindness and love. We honor her memory by living her values: rejecting hate and choosing compassion, turning away from fear and pursuing peace, refusing division and knowing we must come together to build a world where we all come home safe to the people we love.”

We have people in power making broad claims around certain drugs and autism that have been continuously disproven. The degree to which those comments can undermine public health, do harm to women who are pregnant, create anxiety for parents who do have children who are autistic – is violence against the truth.

Tomorrow evening - 'After The Inferno: LA from The Ashes' 1st May 20:30 on @itv
Four months on from one of the most devastating and costliest wildfire disasters in Californian history, ITV’s @romillyweeks returns to #LosAngeles to revisit the people and places she met in the immediate aftermath. Homes lie in ruins, lives have been uprooted, and the road to recovery remains long and uncertain. From battling bureaucracy to working in hazardous conditions, residents, workers, and businesses face a slow and often overwhelming journey to rebuild. With scientists warning this is just the beginning, Los Angeles is proposing to rebuild at speed — but is it ready for the next blaze? #altadena #PacificPalisades

Last night, the Russian army struck the center of Dobropillya in the Donetsk region with two ballistic missiles. After our emergency services arrived at the scene, they launched another strike, deliberately targeting the rescuers. This is a vile and inhumane intimidation tactic often used by the Russians.
Tragically, at this moment, 11 people are confirmed dead. My condolences to their families and loved ones. More than 30 people were injured, including 5 children. Eight five-story apartment buildings, an administrative facility, and a fire truck were damaged.
I thank all the emergency services, police, SES personnel, and medics who, despite the threat of repeated strikes, remain undaunted and are saving people from this terror. To everyone who defends lives while risking their own.
Such strikes show that Russia's objectives have not changed. Therefore, it is crucial to continue to do our best to protect lives, strengthen our air defenses, and increase sanctions against Russia. Everything that helps Putin finance the war must collapse.

The post second world war settlement - laws and institutions that constrain rogue states and remove barriers to trade - has disproportionately benefited the rich countries of the west, Japan and China.
But it underpinned the most sustained period of peace and rising prosperity in recorded history.
So it is both shocking and extraordinary that in just the past few days the president of the country that has benefited most, the US, has shredded that settlement.
His assault on free trade with his tariffs is already squeezing living standards and slowing growth in his own country
The whole world will also be poorer.
However it is his decision to suspend military aid to the democracy of Ukraine while praising the autocracy of Putin‘s Russia that is the most alarming.
It’s the end of an alliance between Europe and America that has defended our freedoms and our way of life since most of us were born.
Why would Donald Trump do this?
The only explanation is that he sees himself as the modern global equivalent of a feudal Lord, even perhaps a character in a real life Game of Thrones.
He is carving up the world and its spoils with China’s Xi and Russia’s dictator Putin
So the big question for Starmer, Macron, and Germany’s soon-to-be chancellor Merz, plus the other leaders of Europe, is whether they can collectively take our fate back into our own hands, by simultaneously expanding our militaries and our defence industries, while belatedly and radically re-engineering our stagnant economies.
There are already important signs they get it. The point is that if we in Europe can’t stand up for liberty. democracy, fraternity and equality, who will?
There is an old saying that you should never waste a crisis. If we waste this one, the epoch- defining history Trump is thrusting on us will do us and our children incalculable harm. Sorry about that.

Our incredible daughter Liz died in the early hours of this morning. She remained determined to the last. Even yesterday she was still making plans. We are so very proud of the kindness, empathy and courage she has shown in the last year. She was not only a phenomenal photographer, she was the best human, and the most wonderful daughter and big sister we could ever have asked for. No one could have fought harder for life than she did. There is a gaping Liz shaped hole in our lives that I am not sure how we will ever fill. We have so much gratitude to every single one of you, whether you offered to help, or liked or shared posts - you ensured Liz’s last two months were her very best. She flew high until the end.
We have two last favours to ask. Firstly, we would like to ask you to share one of her photos - on your social media, or in real life, however you can. Let’s let her go out with a bang. #LizHatton (photos will follow in a thread but do also feel free to choose your own from @lizhatton_photography on Instagram)
Secondly, if you can we would like you to help us with a mission to raise money to fund research into Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumour. With no charity in the UK or internationally funding into effective treatments are lacking. In 2024 a 15% 5 year survival rate is simply not enough. Together we can change that. Whether you can share, donate or raise funds - please be our village one more time. Let’s make this the last item on her bucket list and make sure other families don’t face a similar fate: justgiving.com/crowdfunding/…
