It’s not what Kanye West says that scares me. It’s that he has 30 million followers who listen to his insanity on top of a cheerleader in the form of the current owner of this platform. No one who says “I love Hitler” should be allowed any oxygen on any social platform (period).
I watched the video — was it supposed to be an example of Jews being anti-white? I didn’t see anything about Jews, specifically.

P.S. not saying all people who invoke tropes then commit hate crimes. But having them seeping around society is a problem.

I hope you check it out. Many don't even realize that these tropes are deeply engrained in society, but they do result in hate crimes. The invocation of tropes is a slippery slope (not to rhyme!)
Seemingly justifying/minimizing Ye and Kyrie aside, it reinforced tropes that've historically led to discrimination at best, murder at worst. Tropes are sneaky. To quote, they "evoke classic anti-Semitic ideas rather than state them explicitly." He dog whistled a "control" trope.
(P.S. I don't think Jews calling out Dave Chapelle for anti-Semitic dog whistling is claiming Jews are the only ones discriminated against... but it is ***THIS*** kind of reaction to it that Jonathan is talking about.)
It should be alarming to EVERYONE (especially fellow marginalized people) when hate crimes or speech against one community increases. I don't get why some are resisting. And if a group of people say that something is problematic in how they're being treated, believe them.

We shouldn't expect @DaveChappelle to serve as society's moral compass, but disturbing to see @nbcsnl not just normalize but popularize #antisemitism. Why are Jewish sensitivities denied or diminished at almost every turn? Why does our trauma trigger applause?
