Sinn Fein were offended by this billboard in Newry and wanted it changed-- I wonder why?

Zombie is a song about how the IRA murdered Johnathan Ball, 3, and Tim Parry, 12. No-one was ever arrested, charged or convicted for the killings, and the boys' families have never found justice.
'Zombie' by The Cranberries is a political song about Irish resistance to British colonialism and people play it at Halloween parties, and 'Hallelujah' by Leonard Cohen is a spiritual meditation on love and the human condition and people play it at Christmas parties.

Zombie by The Cranberries is a protest song against the IRA's 1993 bombing in Warrington that killed two children. It criticizes the cycle of violence in the Troubles rather than supporting Irish resistance to British colonialism. songfacts.com/facts/the-cran… irishnews.com/news/northerni…

Utterly loathsome.

I can’t believe how badly the UK media tried to spin this so negatively! Some deliberately cut short the clips to make them look like they were angry! They both laughed it off! The King was probably soaked through to his underwear but still made jokes. Of course he wasn’t smiling whilst he was asking for an umbrella and getting wet! What should he have done? Burst in to a Tom Holland dance routine ☔️
The media tried to spin the King was extremely upset about the rain and the Queen just left. Neither one was true. The Queen actually laughed it off and so did the King. Video from hello on Instagram.

A baby elephant named Ellie was discovered alone in the wild in South Africa, having been rejected by his herd due to a severe umbilical abscess and hernia. Ellie remained lethargic and deeply depressed, showing no will to live. Recognizing that elephants are intensely social creatures, the team introduced him to Duma, a retired service and sniffer dog residing at the sanctuary. The effect was instantaneous. As soon as they met at the sand pile, Ellie’s demeanor shifted from despair to curiosity. The two became inseparable, with Duma’s playful energy teaching Ellie how to be a joyful calf again. She finally had a chance to heal and enjoy life. [📹 Karen Trendler] [📍 Thula Thula Rhino Orphanage]

Religious hate crimes, you say?
This Islamophobia Awareness Month, we must shine a light on the abhorrent hatred and discrimination Muslims continue to face. In the last year alone, religious hate crimes targeting Muslims rose by 15% in England and Wales. This is utterly unacceptable. London will always stand against hatred, prejudice and discrimination.

UK security agencies still assess Islamist extremism as the largest terrorism threat. MI5's Islamist-related caseload remains roughly 75% of its counter-terrorism work, according to recent threat assessments. isdglobal.org/digital-dispat…

As anyone who watched the live broadcast knew, no one made a fuss about the umbrellas. The commentators even praised the King for reviewing the troops as planned. Only haters and British tabloids like GB News and Hello made a big deal out of it. The King handled it very well; the Queen left as scheduled, as she was supposed to leave after the national anthem so the King, as head of state, could review the troops. Everything went smoothly.

Nothing says “liberating the community” quite like torching your own neighbours’ shops, gutting the local bus service, and turning your own street into an active warzone. A masterclass in protection from the Provos and Sinn Féin—trashing Catholic working-class nationalist areas and intimidating any of them who dared to ask why... Brilliant strategy, really... And who could have imagined so many Nationalists today would queue up to vote for the very people who reduced their own streets to ashes? Sin é.

The King’s frustration about lacking an umbrella at a Commonwealth Ceremony hit the headlines. What wasn’t reported, though, was the cheer that went up around the stadium when he went back to his podium, faced the storm head-on, and cracked on with his duty. It was wonderfully, poetically British. 🇬🇧👇

I've seen some of the reports and commentary from people criticising His Majesty for his reaction to being caught in a torrential downpour. Personally, I cannot say I would react any differently. If I were 77 years old, battling cancer, left standing without shelter in torrential rain and then expected to remain in soaking wet clothes for hours afterwards, I imagine I would be less than impressed myself.

Never heard of her. But another ‘name’. Another question about whether SF has depth in numbers/talent, or is it a presumption that they could put up a donkey for Westminster and it would make no difference?
“I want our children to grow up in a society where they have access to good education, decent jobs, affordable housing and high-quality healthcare." Sinn Féin MP Órfhlaith Begley is the fourth of the party’s Westminster representatives who has been announced as a candidate for next year’s Assembly election. Read more: tinyurl.com/44y7kk44
