The shelter called him Tank.
To be euthanized for space.
Something about the eyes made mom stop scrolling.
After reading his notes she decided to save him, emailing BARC on his euth date.
They responded saying he now has a respiratory illness & is being euthanized immediately.
Immediately mom realized that having a cold means we’d need a solo transport.
We could’ve passed.
But then this beautiful dog would essentially die for getting a cold.
We offered to pay extra for a solo transport.
We saved Tank.
Detailed medical notes, posts, shelter profiles said Tank, male.
Tank is a girl.
Think about that.
No attention paid like she didn’t matter.
She would’ve been killed as a boy named Tank.
Instead she will live & be loved as a girl named Maple.
Tank had a few hundred dollars in pledges on FB.
Two people paid totaling $30. Everyone else ignored multiple messages.
She’s heartworm positive and needed X-rays, vaccinations & solo transport.
If you’d like to help Maple know she matters, we thank you! 🩷

And since we're on the subject of big dogs, I introduce you to Bubba 262224 now called Bruce who is now ready to be adopted.
Talk about being stopped in your tracks, this guy owns it.
This guy entered the NYCACC as a stray back in August. Nothing was known about him the only thing that was obviously is that he was emaciated.
A wonderful woman with knowledge of the breed - Cane Corso - stepped up to save his life.
He is now ready to find his forever home. He's located West Babylon, NY, 11704.
Read all about him and see if he'd make a good addition to your home.

Bright Lighton was brought to the #Queens Pound as a stray 9 days ago. He is extremely fearful at the shelter; he is reluctant to leave or enter his kennel (he pees when approached and adopts a stiff posture and growls). This is the only photo we have of him, and you can see the betrayal and deception in his eyes 🙁
‼️He'll be on the 💉☠️ list soon because of his behavior ‼️

Willow is a tiny Pittie who endured tremendous pain after being heartbreakingly abandoned with a severely injured pelvis. She couldn't stand on her own, was suffering from intense pain, and was absolutely terrified. Thankfully, a kind woman found her and brought her to the Helpaws rescue center. At the time, everyone feared that she might never walk again. 💖✨
But with devoted care and so much love, Willow gradually overcame the odds and made an incredible recovery. From being unable to move, she slowly learned to stand, take her first steps, and eventually enjoy life again. She even loves jumping into the lake with her very best friend! Today, Willow has a loving forever home where she is happy, healthy, and full of energy every single day.
