$MSFT was the only hyperscaler that hadn't raised debt to finance the AI buildout. Not anymore.
All hyperscalers are now active in the debt markets, as their aggregate free cash flow is expected to turn negative next year.
This will drive up the cost of capital for neoclouds.
If hyperscaler cash flows don't turn positive again in 2028, neoclouds could struggle to raise capital at attractive rates, which could be lethal for them in the long run.
BREAKING: Microsoft, $MSFT, is launching a 10-part high-grade bond offering for the first time since 2017 to help fund its massive AI investments, per Bloomberg.
The bonds will have maturities ranging from 2 to 40 years, with proceeds used for general corporate purposes, including capital expenditures.
