Jfc is this org addicted to missing out on power? (Yes, I know the meme)
The DSA National Political Committee has voted to unendorse and expel Nithya Raman She has until October 31 to express clear direct support for BDS to retain endorsement, and until January 1 to condemn weapon shipments for Israel out of LAX to remain a member of DSA Both resolutions are linked below

Throughout election night too! As this overwhelming win was coming through, the panellists were marvelling at how close it was and pushing the narrative that Olivia Chow should question her “narrow” win. These people are addicted to the horse race & to propping up unpopular cons
Just goes to show, people vote, money doesn't. The worst people in the city tried to astroturf Bradford, the conservative captured media tried to convince people it was over and he was a sure thing, but people turned out and rejected him wholesale.

Not that Olivia shouldn’t engage w/why 400K Torontonians voted against her or for someone else! But that’s not the big story of last night, her strong victory & the strength of progressives across the city is more important. Why didn’t Bradford do better/get more “moderates” in?

I legit have not seen a Jagmeet Singh ad on here since this report came out.
If you're wondering who is behind those Jagmeet Singh duffel bag ads on here, know that it's part of a multi-billion dollar scam empire being run out of Eastern European call centers. It's an absolutely massive problem and Canada is a priority target. cbc.ca/news/ukraine-call-cen…

Some amazing nominations from #GothamAwards today! REALLY thrilled for McKellen, Gisondo, Anderson, Jeon, and Early. Also thought Tatum's aggro dad was realistically played & I'm thrilled for any & all love for Andrew Scott and Julianne Moore indiewire.com/awards/results…

These are great nominees! And also, I am sad for Michaela Coel, who is excellent in both The Christophers and Mother Mary
I voted on the Gotham Awards for the first time this year and I'm just THRILLED by the results of our vote for lead, supporting and breakthrough performances.

It's not *deeply* baffling, I don't think, when you consider that they have a vested interest in a horse race to increase clicks and eyeballs. But of course, from an analysis perspective, it is silly and wrong
I am baffled that the smarter media types and seasoned journos don't actually stop using polling firms that continuously get it wrong before and during the election periods - but somehow 'converge' at the end, even shifting their own numbers by orders of magnitude over a matter of 1 week. 🤷🤷🤷

I am baffled at how the polls were so far off the mark. How does this happen?

I think David is right about this, and it's rough knowing Kamala Harris had a plan to expand Medicare for better home care. She was prescient to look ahead like that
I believe the cost of elder and end of life care will be a defining political issue of the 2030s. Candidates looking to run in 2028 would be wise to have a plan for this before it bankrupts millions of families more than it already has. I will never forget having to do the math of how much longer my family could afford keep my father cared for as Parkinson’s took him. I know far too many people who have had to make that same calculation.

She beat him like a rented mule, won 19/25 wards (including Etobicoke North!), and progressives across the city had big successes. This was a big win for a more inclusive city, not whatever the hell is being implied here

There’s actual research showing that Muslim candidates suffer a far greater electoral penalty than people from almost any other group, and 45% of Michigan voters said they wouldn’t vote for one as president. Your blinders are on
If Rogers wins the MISEN in 9 days, the pundits and the DSA-lefties will point to Islamophobia, and Rogers HAS run an Islamophobic campaign. But AES is unpopular with a wide swath of voters because he's an immature, dislikable jerk. @murphymike has hit on this, and he likes AES!

I think you make some valid points about the direction Dems should take if they win Nov 3, & be cognizant that success needs to be continually rebuilt. I also think if you word messages about your articles in a way that will garner negative attn, you can't be mad when you get it
Replying to @amandalitman
I see this has gotten picked up by people who love to be mad and hate to actually read the piece. The literacy crisis is really something. 🤷‍♀️

To everybody’s dad who’s been watching those TV ads about me 👇🏾 I don’t have big money for ads, so let me talk to you directly. I’m going to protect your Social Security. I’m going to protect your Medicare. I’m going to make billionaires pay what they owe. #AngieForFlorida

Obviously this was a winning strategy for him, and I’m happy to see new blood in the mayor’s office in Mississauga. But make no mistake, this is *a* political game. “I’m not doing the same old thing” is also a political game to be played and Tedjo played it well
Alvin Tedjo didn't play the political game. Instead, he spent the election going from cafe to restaurant to community centre, meeting Mississaugans where they are. This city just a long overdue generational shift and, as a long time resident, I'm excited to see what happens next.

Absolutely ridiculous set of premises that refuse the realities of Olivia Chow’s major win last night, and the numerous progressive successes across the city

Proud of you, Mayor Chow! A massive victory that we can really build on
Tonight, the people of Toronto have spoken. And you have given me the extraordinary honour of continuing to serve as your mayor. I am grateful. I am humbled. And I am so proud of our city.
