this! every episode in the show exploring aang's character was shared with another character (usually zuko) same with the comics. the only thing that truly counts as aang solo content is the movie/novel. and yet everyone complained about the movie being *too* aang centric+
𝕷. ⚜️@praiseliyahOct 27
eh not really but this is a perfect example of how the media exploring aang as a genocide survivor always had to center someone else. zuko struggling with being the firelord, toph and her family issues. just to see people lie that he had all this solo content before the movie.

not directed at op at all but this is exactly what we meant when we said israel was normalised for decades through tv shows & movies downplaying their crimes but fans will say you’re “too woke” if you point out the obvious propaganda being fed to viewers

Love the Gaang, but GOD they were not perfect in the slightest. There are several occasions in ATLA that I can name off the top of my head where they dismissed Aang’s feelings regarding his culture going extinct in favor of other cultures.
TJ 🇵🇸@bo0kthoughtsOct 25
Aang antis keep saying the Aang novel makes him look bad like his entire friend group ain’t gaf abt his culture for ten years while he built theirs and incorporated those cultures into his lifestyle meanwhile they’re thinking Aang just got over the genocide when he was 12 #awks

A lot of the times in series and comics they seem to give this message that aang should just get over it because progress, future… and first time we see that handled well & actually raised as an issue is in novel by Allison King, an Asian origin women, so thank you queen 🙏.

listen I love the Gaang but they literally left Aang to go eat out of the garbage while they went to a meat restaurant they knowingly booked knowing he cant come (and the way they acted this clearly wasnt the first time) like... theyve got their faults esp about his culture 😭😭
