No HSR in Odisha. No RRTS in Odisha. No Metro in Odisha. While other parts of India are going for next-generation transport infrastructure, Odisha is still waiting for its first major urban mass rapid transit system. How long must Odisha wait?

Happy to share some promising developments from my recent meeting with Hon'ble Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw Ji. During our discussions, several key issues concerning our region were addressed, and I am pleased to inform you of the positive assurances we received: 1. Upgrade of Bondamunda Sub-Divisional Hospital- The Railway Minister has assured the upgrade of the 65-bed Bondamunda sub-divisional hospital along with the enhancement of R&D facilities. This hospital, which was at risk of being downgraded to a health unit due to a shortage of doctors, currently renders medical services to 42,165 railway beneficiaries and approximately 12,600 retired railway beneficiaries. The upgrade will significantly improve our healthcare infrastructure and service quality. 2. Amrit Bharat Station Scheme- Both Rourkela and Panposh stations have already been included in the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. I expressed my gratitude to the Railway Minister for this inclusion and requested the expedited development of these stations. The Minister assured a positive response and commitment to accelerating the development process. 3- Expedited Talcher-Bimlagarh Railway Line Project- The long-pending Talcher-Bimlagarh railway line project will see expedited progress. The Railway Minister has invited the Talcher-Bimlagarh rail line committee for a discussion and assured that the project will be expedited. This project is expected to enhance connectivity, reduce travel time, and facilitate the movement of goods and passengers between important industrial regions, thereby boosting economic activities and regional development. 4.Upgrade of Bondamunda Sub-Divisional Post Office- I have requested the upgradation and development of the sub-divisional post office at Bondamunda, which is currently in a deplorable condition, causing concern for both staff and residents. Immediate intervention is needed to improve its condition and functionality, ensuring better postal services for the community. The Railway Minister assured that necessary actions will be taken to address this request. 5. Establishment of Detachment-Free Rake Examination Facility- We discussed the establishment of a detachment-free rake examination facility at the exchange yard in Bondamunda to improve railway operations. The project has faced delays due to land disputes, and immediate resolution of these issues will enable the continuation and completion of this vital project. 6. Vande Bharat Rail Coach Manufacturing Unit & Railway R&D Facilities- The establishment of a Vande Bharat Rail coach manufacturing unit and railway R&D facilities was also discussed. The Railway Minister assured that he would look into the matter and do his best. This initiative will generate significant employment opportunities for the people of Rourkela and provide numerous other facilities. In a positive and forward-looking gesture, I invited the Railway Minister to visit Rourkela to personally see what can be done for the betterment of our city. The Minister graciously accepted the invitation and agreed to come. These developments are crucial for the growth and progress of our beloved Rourkela. I am committed to ensuring their successful implementation and will continue to work tirelessly for the betterment of our city.
