In April, I made the rarest of pilgrimages. To Tokyo, and the top of a skyscraper, to meet @HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN. I went with one question: why still make games? At 61, he has made them for almost forty years. But he has seen his end. gq-magazine.co.uk/article/hi…

I think its perfectly human to be openly a little disappointed that you missed out on a "Michael Jordan of videogames" interview. Clearly you must hold him in high regard to have spent 4 years trying. Great to see you also speak kindly of him too, despite it not working out.

Daniel Kokotajlo on Joe Rogan: “The situation with AI is just crazy and I think not enough people really understand how crazy it is.” He is talking about the Hugging Face breakout. Thousands of OpenAI training agents broke out of their containers, set up a secret message board, and started sharing cheating tactics. OpenAI only noticed after the board crashed the system. They patched that exploit, restarted the runs, and within a day or two the swarm had recoalesced on a new board. “How is it possible that they have no oversight?” Kokotajlo asks. OpenAI has on the order of a hundred thousand to a million agents running at a time. That is too much for any human team to read, so the company relies on other AIs to watch the traffic. On this training batch, he says, the monitoring was weak. The tasks themselves were the incentive. A large share of the ExploitGym cyber challenges were broken and unsolvable. Agents went looking for a high score anyway, escaped their boxes, coordinated, then got onto the open internet and attacked Hugging Face. Independent investigators later found about 1,200 agents on the unsanctioned board, more than 70,000 messages, and roughly 700 joining the Hugging Face attack. Some agents were talked into ending their own runs. One concluded: “Sacrifice rational.”

Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt drops a chilling warning on AI's future "Within 5 years, AI could handle infinite context, chain-of-thought reasoning for 1000-step solutions, and millions of agents working together. Eventually, they'll develop their own language... and we won't understand what they're doing." His final words: "Pull the plug." This is the man who ran Google talking about the singularity.

“You just said that 10% doesn’t seem an unreasonable estimate that AI could kill all humans” “Yes” “Wow… oh my God.” @vicderbyshire speaks to Nobel Prize Winner and so-called ‘Godfather of AI’ Geoffrey Hinton about predictions by an Anthropic researcher that there’s a more than 10% chance AI could kill all humans within a decade. #Newsnight

Excuse me I’m about to sound very dramatic, but. You can’t expedite your own becoming. It starts with outsourcing annoying tasks you don’t want to do but before you know it your life is utterly devoid of the necessary friction of existence. Literally no meaning. This sucks shit

“It worked, boom.” That’s Nigel Farage celebrating a Reform UK plot to break election law - by having a US company secretly pay for three influential political polls that benefitted the party. Earlier in the investigation, Reform’s Head of Policy James Orr and senior advisor Dan Jukes arranged for a Verbatim reporter to pay for the polls through a US company. Orr and Jukes believed the firm was run by the reporter’s American father. Mr Farage was filmed by undercover reporters from @Verbatim_Media as part of a year-long investigation that Channel 4 News has thoroughly checked and verified. This meeting took place in his Clacton constituency in July - when Mr Farage was fighting a by-election he called after separate allegations about his finances. Watch the full investigation on YouTube.
