Project Update!
When I launched my birthday fundraiser in September, the goal was to buy three computers for my former school, Ananda Marga Academy, in the Kangemi slums. A month later, thanks to your generosity, we went well beyond that goal. On Friday, we delivered 20 Dell OptiPlex desktop computers to the school!
The principal was incredibly grateful, and so am I. Thank you to everyone who contributed and helped make this possible.
Next up is helping the school get a proper library so if you're interested reach out to me.
Asanteni sana!
Today is my birthday, and I have decided to do something that has been tugging at my heart for a long time. My former high school, Ananda Marga Academy in Kangemi, has only two working computers for more than 400 students, so I am raising KES 100,000 to buy at least three more as a first step.
You can contribute via M-Pesa (0724 379 562), PayPal ([email protected]), Swish (+46 76 417 06 80) or Vipps (+47 458 66 571). Any amount, or simply sharing this post, would mean a lot

So why vote? Because this isn't about arithmetic — it's about the record. ~KShs 3.1B in losses, ~1.9B in cash gone, KCB/Equity/NCBA/Airtel lost, zero dividends since 2021. Make WPP use its 56.26% in the open. They have the votes. We have the truth. Show up 8 June.

Why did they take the money from the pockets in the first place

Treasury has a media briefing today about the government's progress in "putting money in people's pockets."
It is clearly not specified which people's pockets, though.

David Ndii [@DavidNdii] says the government is targeting to have single-digit rates in Kenya:
"If we are talking about an inflation anchor around 3%, then clearly that enables us to start thinking about our entire yield curve being in single-digit territory...probably with 90-day T-Bills around 5% & hopefully with sort of the medium-term bonds not much more above 10%"

Unremitted deductions by state corporations, government-owned enterprises, and semi-autonomous agencies to NSSF and NHIF tripled to KES 716M in the fiscal year ended June 2023, up from KES 215M the previous year.
This will be worse under SHIF

Nonsense!!!
The economy was incapable of generating the revenues the finance bill was projecting anyway
If govt projections were on point, Finance Bill 2024 would not have been contentious because Finance Bill 2023 would have been sufficient!
@DavidNdii explains it eloquently. The finance bill could have stabilized the debt crisis. Now that it has been quashed, our country is headed for an economic catastrophe.

When MPs resume their sittings in JULY to DELETE that finance Bill, they will be paid a SITTING ALLOWANCE.

I am always struggling with the reasoning behind govt proposals;
GoK: Collections from Road Maintenance Levy have been reducing on lower demand of fuel due to high prices
Kenyans: Then reduce the taxes and levies so we have lower prices
GoK: No. We will increase the levy 🤦♀️🤦♀️

Here's a big one!
Motor Vehicle Tax may have gone but the Road Maintenance Levy is being bumped up 38.9% to Kes 25/litre from Kes 18.0
