after this week's security incidents across cloud hosting providers and the wider internet, we're taking every backend service off shared platforms and onto our own dedicated servers: encrypted disks, a private network between them, two locations with live failover, and no sapling keys* sitting in anyone else's systems.
this is a preventive move, not a reaction: we've seen no sign of anything touching sapling, just like the recent PHP exploit wave never reached us. it makes sapling more secure and more private for whatever comes next.
*no user funds or data were affected. your sapling account is controlled by your own passkey, so your funds never sit with us. you won't notice the move, and that's the point.
privacy isn't only what we build for you. it's how we run.
