Denmark is moving to ban Frankenchickens — the first country in the world to do so.
What we’ve done to chickens is the largest genetic experiment ever run on any animal, and one of the most troubling.
Geneticists took a scrawny bird and engineered an obese meat machine. The chickens we eat today grow four times faster than chickens did in 1957.
But their bodies are not four times stronger. By just six weeks old, many will suffer ailments of old age — heart failure, organ colapse — while one in four will become lame (Knowles et al., 2008).
In studies, lame birds will choose feed laced with painkillers — a sign of chronic pain (Danbury et al., 2000).
Their parents meanwhile are kept on starvation rations. Birds engineered to grow this fast would otherwise eat themselves to death before laying a single egg.
We now breed over 70 billion of these birds a year. Denmark is acting to reverse this giant genetic experiment. The rest of the world should follow suit.
The Danish government wants to ban a fast-growing breed known as “turbo chickens,” setting up another clash with the farm sector over animal welfare.

An information which may be very disturbing to everyone. A medical distributor of a particular injection which is used in chemotherapy, his wife was suffering from cancer. She was taking treatment in a very renowned hospital. We will not take the name of the hospital. So the dealer requested the hospital authorities, sir I am myself a dealer and to me the injection comes at Rs. 11,000 dealer price. If Amazon Prime Video changes a feature for millions of paying customers, why should the remedy go only to the one customer who takes it to court? Shouldn't the court order compensation to ALL customers who were in the Rs.1499 "ad-free" plan? A consumer protection system should not make individual litigation the price of obtaining redress for a potentially widespread unfair practice.

Bengaluru Police Nab Migrant Worker Over Viral AI Video Showing Vidhana Soudha Bomb Blast

The Bengaluru City Police have arrested a 25 year old migrant worker for allegedly creating and posting an artificial intelligence (#AI)-generated video that falsely depicted an explosion at #Karnataka's seat of power, the #VidhanaSoudha in Bengaluru.
The accused, identified as Ali, hails from #Bihar's Araria district and had been employed as a daily-wage pipe fitter in #Bengaluru over the past few months.
According to officials, the clip surfaced on Tuesday morning via the Instagram handle jnx__king__h_g. The video opened with footage recorded outside the Vidhana Soudha before using AI-powered visual effects to simulate a catastrophic blast ripping through the iconic building.
The case came to light during routine digital surveillance conducted by the police. Police Inspector S.P. Kumar Swamy of the Vidhana Soudha Police Station subsequently registered a First Information Report (FIR) under Sections 353(1)(b) and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Police traced the Internet Protocol (IP) logs and digital trails linked to the social media account, which led them directly to Ali's residence in the city.
Officials stated that the accused remains in custody and is undergoing questioning to determine the exact motive behind the post, whether other individuals assisted in editing or producing the AI footage and if there are any broader security implications linked to the incident.

Few observations over the last year about our beloved country and I wish over next one year things become better with blessings of the divine Mother Goddess! Nothing is new but continuing at same pace or with more brazenness.
1) Barring top 10% - 15% people, everyone else is suffering from inflation, unemployment, poor salary, insecurity, climate crises and economic stress. A large section is surviving on govt hand outs and its unsustainable.
2) Seems society and govt of all denominations lost control over corruption and extractive, high-handed, uncontrolled, arbitrary exercise of power by all types of govt and semi govt agencies and officers. Whosoever has any means to exploit or harass the people, doing it with impunity. The desperation is noticeable. It is almost impossible to prove as the web is very intricate and impenetrable. Also justice is expensive and prohibitive in India. Individuals fear they will be targeted if complain. So tolerate and bear....
3) People who can make their voices heard look at everything from their political bias. Overt or covert. I have never in life seen Indian society so polarized and so parochial in their approach to looking at truth.
4) We stopped debating issues long back and attacking the person than addressing the issue is the norm over many years now. Over the years it took two forms --- aggressive countering or total withdrawal. Middle space for reconciliation disappeared. Unless we restore it, we all will be in danger! No political party or ideology or economy can survive a fractured society.
5) Uncouth, crude, crass, idiotic, hyper aggressive, uninformed loud behaviour and language is the arsenal to combat in most public spaces including social media --- not reason, argument, respect, propriety and anchoring oneself to basic truthfulness to facts. Are we collectively evolving or degenerating?
Can we expect a better time ahead........ ???!!
