Captain America: Brave New World (2022) - Falcon Helmet Concepts, Phil Saunders

This was my take on Falcon's helmet for Captain America: Brave New World. I was trying to capture the feel of the comic book helmet while bringing it into the live action world. I was looking for...

Spiderman: No Way Home (2020) - Green Goblin Update Concepts, Phil Saunders

A few of my earliest concepts for and updated Green Goblin and Glider in Spiderman: No Way Home. The first is just a slight "MCU" update to the existing Sam Raimi movie suit. The second was a whole...

Spiderman: No Way Home (2020) - Sandman to the Rescue, Phil Saunders

A couple of variations on Sandman protecting Peter from Electro's lighting bolts. I tried to convey the idea that Sandman was letting parts of himself be fused into glass, creating a protective...

Spiderman: No Way Home (2020) - Multiverse Chase Keyframes, Phil Saunders

One early idea for Spidey and Dr. Strange's chase through the multiverse was to have them battle over the source of the spell (in this early version the Book of Vishanti) through scenes from the...

Spiderman: No Way Home (2020) - MJ Rescued by the Cloak of Levitation, Phil Saunders

Redemptive moments like MJ's rescue by Andrew Garfield's Spiderman in Spiderman: No Way Home seem inevitable in retrospect, but in practice it takes some searching to get there. In an earlier version...

Spiderman: No Way Home (2020) - Peter's Prisoners, Phil Saunders

On any project of this complexity, the script will go through numerous changes as story direction adapts to the greater MCU plan and challenges such as actor availability. An early version of...

Spiderman: No Way Home (2020) - Ned Gets a Ride!, Phil Saunders

Another unused idea that I'm thrilled made it into the "Art of" book. This was an early idea proposed where Ned gets a shot at riding the Goblin Glider during the final battle, a nice bit of fan...

Spiderman: No Way Home (2020) - May's Guest at the Shelter, Phil Saunders

Spiderman: No Way Home (2020) - The Death of Aunt May (alternate), Phil Saunders

Spiderman: No Way Home has one of the most poignant moments in the MCU, the death of Peter's beloved Aunt May. In an earlier version of the script, this moment took place in an ambulance racing to...

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings: Alternate Razorfist Concept (2019), Phil Saunders

This was my first pass at Razorfist for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. As always when approaching a character, my first instinct is to reference as much of the original character as...
