I was interested in Phantom Blade Zero because I liked all the combat animations but I'm very disheartened by all of the "enemies don't respawn and bosses remember completed phases" stuff. I understand that sort of forgiveness in an optional story mode, but on all difficulties?

Because it’s not. It stems from a disorder/condition which is dysphoria. We definitely need to up our research into dysphoria as it seems to be becoming a steadily rising issue.
