In 2021, Maharaj was among the first farmers to try #JalTara on his 4 acres. Drought and flooding made his income unpredictable. Two years later, with more stable yields and higher income, he built his first pukka home. He named it “JalTara.” 📷 Water security changes lives.

JalTara: Good enough at Scale to solve our water crisis. Scalable. Practical. Effective. • 500 recharge pits per village • 1 pit per acre • 6x4 rock-filled pits to drain excess rainwater Stops crop spoilage by reducing flooding Protects from drought by recharging aquifers.

India Giving Day is March 13! Support Save Groundwater’s #JalTara project — protecting smallholder farms from drought & floods while increasing farmer incomes. Our goal: $60,000 to expand to 10 more villages this summer. Every gift counts. Donate: indiagivingday.org/organizat…

70%+ of India’s farmers rely on groundwater. When water declines, poverty, migration, & distress rise. Our low-cost, scalable #JalTara solution transformed 250+ villages, protecting farms from drought & floods while increasing farmer incomes. savegroundwater.org

Groundwater sustains rural India—supporting smallholder farmers, food security, and livelihoods. But over-extraction is depleting water tables, harming ecosystems, and threatening communities. #JalTara restores groundwater levels and builds resilience. savegroundwater.org

97% of Earth's water is in oceans; 2% is frozen. Of the 1% left, 99% is groundwater. 📷 With the UN predicting severe water stress by 2030, our scalable JalTara approach is restoring this vital resource. Act now: savegroundwater.org 📷 #Groundwater #WaterCrisis #ClimateAction

We are honored that JalTara Save Groundwater Foundation was recognized by the President of India @rashtrapatibhvn as the #1 NGO for water conservation! Thank you and we hope to continue to be worthy of your recognition. @JalShaktiMin

The weather whiplash continues. We need to solve for both drought and floods together.. this is the Jaltara approach! bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

While we do need to modernize the Anderson reservoir, maybe follow an 80/20 funding plan? And invest the rest into #groundwater replenishment.. There's gold in them thar ground 🙂 mercurynews.com/2023/11/13/a…

"The Middle East is among the regions that are most vulnerable to the effects of climate change." You cannot solve these problems with the same approaches of today - we need nation-scale, low-cost solutions like #jaltara @manuelaandreoni @nytimes nytimes.com/2023/11/08/clima…

This will continue to be a challenge. We need to create more supply of water by storing every drop of excess rain as groundwater. #jaltara has the answer to this water crisis. theguardian.com/us-news/2023…

The bigger problem here is not Poland's access to water, but the scarcity of it. If there was enough water, would this be an issue? We need supply improvements and demand regulations. No point in just blaming Poland. #jaltara is one approach to supply news.yahoo.com/inside-poland…

#Floods and ##droughts are two sides of the same coin. We need to address both to solve this water crisis. #Groundwater is where the solution lies - with 100x the capacity of surface reservoirs. #jaltara is the answer! latimes.com/environment/stor…
