A Koala Protection Act would have grave consequences for this person – AKF is watching with interest what happens next in Victoria where there is very little protection for Koalas.

It has come to our attention that a fraudulent profile is operating across several social media platforms using the AKF name and logo. Please be cautious and verify the authenticity of any communication claiming to be from AKF.
An important end-of-year message from AKF Chair Deborah Tabart OAM.
Koala numbers are not secure. Habitat loss continues. This is a clear call to face the truth and act moving into 2026.

📢 Strategic Pause: Time for me and the AKF to reset and refocus. 2026 will show whether @MurrayWatt and the Government are truly serious about real reform for our forests and our Koalas. Enjoy our summer. 🌞🐨 #auspol

.@MurrayWatt I’m sure you will need the @savethekoala Koala Habitat Atlas maps to make this deal worthwhile? #Auspol #Auspol2025

.@MurrayWatt your proposed environmental laws fail the pub test:
❌Logging + land-clearing loopholes
❌ Ministers can greenlight destruction
❌ A “pay-to-destroy” offsets model which is archaic
Why ignore AKF’s science? Are you concerned about our maps? #KoalaProtectionAct

Politicians treat Net Zero like a footy game while ignoring the UN on climate change.
Koala habitat is 20% of Australia - imagine what healthy forests could do for emissions.
Our Govt shows no understanding of the planet’s or Koalas’ plight. Mother Nature will force their hand.

Great to see and they need great community support for them to stay healthy.

She tried to protect her baby, but poachers hit her so hard her skull is widely exposed under this dressing.
A damning report by the IUCN lists how pangolins—all 8 species facing extinction— are failed by agencies every step of the way.
Note: This pangolin and her baby survived.
Summary and report in thread.

The French Island Koala population could have been stabilised with good science and tree planting. Feral deer and rabbits are a huge part of the problem - but they will never be counted or culled, will they @Steve_Dimo? @MurrayWatt will you step in?
