#ReinventTheClassroom I see students at my college playing games on their phones all of the time. One that鈥檚 really popular right now is solving a word from hints given, and that teaches critical thinking skills!

I envision that gaming will advance into higher level education more in the future. Just because students advance to college, doesn鈥檛 mean they no longer get excited about games! #ReinventTheClassroom

@kristyn_pal my favorite teacher ever actually used gaming in her classroom. She brought in her wii and every Friday we got to choose from the games she had and play an educational game! It ranged from math games to history and it made learning so much fun! #ReinventTheClassroom

A5 Sharing what I'm doing and the engagement that I've had then offering support via lessons and tech help have helped colleagues venture out of their comfort zone to try using gaming in their classes. #ReinventTheClassroom
Q5: How can you or how do you inspire others on your campus to incorporate gaming as part of the academic curriculum? #ReinventTheClassroom

A4 Students use deep creative & critical thinking skills while gaming & do it without same reservations/negative perceptions they have when trying to do same via other avenues - it engages them & deepens their learning by truly starting where they are. #ReinventTheClassroom
Q4: What skills do you want students to grow when gaming? #ReinventTheClassroom

A3 I want to incorporate games as narrative in my English classes & so would like it to be more broadly used & accessible - it can be an uphill battle for funding & access (firewalls etc) - especially games aimed at secondary aged students #ReinventTheClassroom
Q3: How do you envision the future of gaming in your classroom? What do you want to see happen with gaming technology in your school? #ReinventTheClassroom

A2 @PlayCraftLearn has been the most used in my video game backpack because it is so education friendly. I've used others, ie Her Story, but run into monetary obstacles as well as installation and firewall issues. #ReinventTheClassroom
Q2: Which games, technology, or gear is your class using to play? If you aren't incorporating gaming yet, what do you see as obstacles in the way of incorporating gaming in your class? #ReinventTheClassroom

A1 I have used games as the narrative (Her Story), as a means to display understanding (recreate a scene in Minecraft) and as a brainstorming tool (Minecraft as survival story inspiration) #ReinventTheClassroom
Q1: How have you incorporated gaming in your classroom? Tag 2-3 educators who are also incorporating gaming! #ReinventTheClassroom

A4: Creative problem solving! I鈥檝e noticed a steady decline in creative problem solving abilities and I would love to use gaming to remedy that issue! #ReinventTheClassroom

A5: Right now I simply keep the conversation alive and use gaming where I can as a model of what is possible. Group of students currently designing a video game to address the inequalities in our dress code and that鈥檚 heating up the convo! #ReinventTheClassroom

Teachers def need to explore and I think many will need a Guide and some curated examples that are applicable to their field. Once they know what to look for, the sky is the limit. #ReinventTheClassroom

They have to see it for themselves. Show them how a game can achieve an outcome they have and are looking for new ways of doing things. Have them play the games you use so they can FEEL for themselves. That's the power of games. It's why we play them. #ReinventTheClassroom
